Are you passionate about education and anatomy, and would you like to pursue a PhD at the intersection of these fields? Then this position may be an excellent opportunity for you.

As a PhD researcher, you will:

  • Critically follow recent developments in anatomy and educational innovation and translate relevant insights into educational practice.
  • As part of your research, evaluate the implementation, usability and educational effectiveness of innovative technologies in anatomy education.
  • Develop collaborations with educational technology companies and physicians from regional hospitals, and explore how innovative educational technologies can be integrated into medical education and training.
  • Prepare practical anatomy teaching sessions and laboratory classes, and facilitate interactive, small-group sessions for Bachelor students in Medicine.
  • Contribute to the broader activities of the faculty and research group, including participation in meetings, support for student recruitment, examination supervision and science communication and outreach activities.

We are looking for a candidate who:

  • Holds a Master's degree, preferably in Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy, Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, Educational Sciences or a related discipline.
  • Has strong research skills and experience with both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Is highly motivated to contribute to high-quality and innovative education in the field of anatomy.
  • Is curious about and enthusiastic about emerging technologies, such as 3D printing, serious games and AR/VR applications.
  • Has a strong interest in further developing their knowledge and expertise in anatomy.
  • Takes initiative, works accurately and takes responsibility for the quality of their work.
  • Can work independently and in an organised manner while also contributing constructively to a team.
  • Has strong teaching and communication skills and is able to actively engage students in the learning process.
  • Communicates clearly, professionally and effectively with students and colleagues.
  • Previous teaching experience is an advantage.
  • Has a good command of Dutch, as the Bachelor programmes are taught in Dutch.

Appointment as PhD fellow for 1 year, prolonged to 4 years upon positve evaluation.
