Henegouwen, Henegouwen, Belgique Kando Care Temps plein 60 000 € - 85 000 € Contrat

At Kando, we build the OS of care — the missing layer that connects people, places of life and care systems.

Our platform links beneficiaries, caregivers, relatives and tools — across all places of life, and on any device: Kando Box, smartphone, tablet, computer. At the core of the system is Kando Mind, a contextual intelligence designed to understand real situations, reduce cognitive load and orchestrate actions between humans and technologies.

Kando was founded by people from the field. Nearly 80% of our operational team comes from the healthcare sector. Kando has been financed for more than €4M, and our solutions are used daily by hundreds of users, in collaboration with major healthcare groups in Belgium and France.

THE MISSION

We are looking for a pragmatic Back-End Software Engineer to help us build and scale Kando's cloud infrastructure. You will work on the core services that power our real-time voice AI platform for healthcare, with high ownership and close collaboration with the founding team.

Kando processes voice interactions from healthcare professionals through a sophisticated pipeline: capturing audio, transcribing speech (Speech-To-Text), understanding intent via LLMs, performing specific actions (such as automatic report generation), and sending back textual and audio (Text-To-Speech) responses. You will build the reliable, performant backend systems that make this possible.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Own core services: develop and maintain our Kando assistants — API design, database operations, integration with third-party services (e.g., healthcare APIs)
  • AI pipeline integration: orchestrate the STT → LLM → TTS pipelines, managing audio streaming and response latency optimization
  • Real-time infrastructure: implement robust WebSocket handlers and message queue consumers (RabbitMQ/AMQP) to manage concurrent voice sessions without dropped connections or race conditions
  • Data engineering: design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas for healthcare data (resident records, care plans, medical reports) with proper indexing, migrations, and query performance; audio data on Object Storage (S3)
  • DevOps & infrastructure: manage our multi-environment deployments on Scaleway, configure Traefik reverse proxies, maintain Docker containers, improve our GitLab CI/CD pipelines
  • Reliability & observability: implement logging, monitoring, and alerting to meet healthcare-grade reliability requirements

THE STACK

  • Frontend: React, Flutter

WHO YOU ARE

  • Experienced: 3-6 years of professional experience in software engineering, with solid backend fundamentals
  • Python proficient: you write clean, typed Python, understand async/await patterns and dependency injection, and know your way around FastAPI or similar frameworks
  • Rustacean: experience with Rust and deep understanding of its core concepts
  • Database literate: you can design normalized schemas, write efficient queries, and debug slow joins (SQLAlchemy/SQLModel and sqlx are a plus)
  • DevOps comfortable: you can SSH into a server, debug a failing container, and write a CI pipeline without hand-holding
  • Reliability focused: you think about edge cases, write tests, and understand that healthcare systems need to work at 3am on a Sunday

BONUS POINTS

  • Frontend curiosity: React, React Native, htmx or Flutter
  • WebSockets: real-time bidirectional communication and its pitfalls
  • Healthcare/regulated industry: environments where data privacy and reliability aren't optional

HOW WE WORK

  • Data security is a prerequisite, given our work with sensitive healthcare data
  • We focus on solving real problems, not stacking features
  • Strong involvement in product and UX decisions
  • Short cycles, rapid prototyping, and real production deployments
  • Technology serves usage: modern when it adds value, simple when it's the better choice

CONDITIONS

  • Permanent contract (CDI)
  • Position based in Charleroi, with hybrid remote work
  • Attractive compensation package
  • 4 or 5 day work week, at your choice
  • Health insurance via Alan, meal vouchers, mobility budget
  • MacBook Pro and high-quality equipment
  • Access to best-in-class tools (JetBrains, Notion, Slack, Claude, …)

RECRUITMENT PROCESS

  • First conversation with a member of the tech team (Robin or JB)
  • Technical interview / case study at our office in Charleroi
  • Discussion with the CEO (FX)
  • Informal meeting with the team
