Senior SAP/ABAP Developer

What you will do

You will develop, test and document application code for customer service systems within a Belgian energy network operator. Your work covers projects, maintenance, bug fixing and user support.

• Write, test and document code in the development environment based on technical specifications from analysts
• Provide technical advice to analysts and designers
• Evaluate the technical feasibility of requests and make realistic estimates
• Apply change and release management processes carefully
• Handle tickets as part of the incident management process
• Work on developments for customer portals, subsidy management, relationship management, green energy certificates and complaint management
• Develop on both SAP S/4 (projects) and legacy systems within SAP CRM 7 (maintenance and incident resolution)
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and transfer within the team
• Report to domain experts and designers

What we are looking for

You are an experienced SAP/ABAP developer with a strong background in CRM development and a proven track record in the Belgian energy sector.

Essential skills and experience:

• Demonstrable experience within the Belgian energy sector
• At least 5 years of experience developing ABAP-based applications
• At least 8 years of experience with CRM WebUI development
• At least 6 years of experience with SAP NetWeaver Gateway
• Experience with ABAP OO and ABAP WebDynpro
• Knowledge and experience of Agile development methodology
• Education with certification or equivalent experience in SAP/ABAP programming languages and environments
• Knowledge of CRM objects such as business partner, contact person, partner roles, relationships, marketing attributes, activities and opportunities
• Experience in development, debugging and optimisation (performance improvements and problem solving) of Z-programs, user exits and function modules
• Fluent in Dutch (European CEFR level C2)

Valuable additional experience:

• Experience in projects or maintenance assignments on complex SAP systems
• Experience with Business Partner Duplicate Check and Data Cleansing
• Around 6 years of experience consuming OData Service CRUDQ operations
• Experience with GenIL / BOL
• Experience with SAP CRM developments (business partner, contact person, partner roles, relationships, marketing attributes, activities and opportunities)
• Very good knowledge of SAP CRM, both functional and technical
• Experience with incident handling within a support department

The setting

This assignment runs for one year from early November 2026, with the possibility of extension. You will be based in the Ghent region. Hybrid working is possible in consultation with the team lead, though some on-site presence is expected and occasional travel to other locations may be required.

The working language is Dutch.
