- In this role, you will manage and support enterprise-grade databases across multiple technologies, including Oracle, Sybase, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DataStax Cassandra, and Couchbase, ensuring they are secure, highly available, and performance-optimized in both on-premises and hybrid environments.
- You will handle day-to-day database administration, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and storage management across relational and NoSQL platforms.
Qualifications
- Extensive hands‑on experience in enterprise database administration, with strong, demonstrable expertise in Oracle, Sybase, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DataStax Cassandra, and Couchbase.
- Relevant certification or equivalent industry‑recognized database certification.
Preferred
- Proven hands‑on experience administering and managing enterprise database platforms, including Oracle, Sybase ASE, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DataStax Cassandra, and Couchbase, covering installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance.
- Strong understanding of database architectures and core concepts across RDBMS and NoSQL systems, including tablespaces, datafiles, filegroups, schemas, ASM, Cassandra keyspaces, Couchbase buckets, indexing strategies, query optimization, and transaction/log management.
- Extensive experience in database performance tuning and monitoring, utilizing tools such as:
- Oracle (AWR, ADDM, ASH)
- SQL Server (Query Store, Profiler)
- PostgreSQL (EXPLAIN ANALYZE)
- Cassandra and Couchbase monitoring utilities
- Execution plan analysis and SQL/query optimization across platforms
- Strong expertise in backup and recovery solutions, including:
- Oracle RMAN (full/incremental, archive log management)
- SQL Server native backup/restore
- PostgreSQL logical/physical backups (pg_dump, WAL archiving)
- Cassandra snapshots and replication strategies
- Couchbase backup and restore tools
- In‑depth knowledge of high availability and replication technologies, including:
- Oracle RAC, Data Guard, GoldenGate
- SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, Log Shipping
- PostgreSQL streaming and logical replication
- Cassandra distributed clustering and replication
- Couchbase Cross Data Center Replication (XDCR)
- Experience integrating databases with enterprise applications and identity systems, including LDAP/Active Directory for secure authentication and role‑based access control.
- Proven ability to manage databases in highly available, scalable, and hybrid environments (on‑premises and cloud platforms such as OCI, AWS, Azure), ensuring resilience and optimal performance.
- Working knowledge of ITIL processes, including Incident, Problem, Change, and Request management, with experience in documentation, CMDB updates, and SLA compliance.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills, addressing performance issues, locking/blocking, deadlocks, wait events, replication lag, and connectivity problems across multiple database technologies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with application, infrastructure, and cross‑functional support teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with cloud database platforms, including Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), AWS, and Azure, supporting Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, and Couchbase workloads in hybrid and cloud‑native environments.
- Knowledge of replication, data integration, and synchronization technologies, such as:
- Oracle GoldenGate
- SQL Server Replication & Always On
- PostgreSQL logical replication
- Cassandra multi‑datacenter replication
- Couchbase XDCR (Cross Data Center Replication)
- Familiarity with database monitoring and administration tools, including:
- Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
- SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and monitoring features
- pgAdmin and PostgreSQL monitoring utilities
