Mission

Job Purpose

Maintain and improve the automated visual inspection program as well as the robustness of other vision systems.

KEY ROLES

  • AVI vision expertise - Assure proper functioning of Automatic Visual Inspection Machines in the Production unit.
  • Follow strategy for recipe development for new products
  • Fine tune / develop new or existing vision programs to decrease false rejects or to improve detection capabilities.
  • Interact with production, Quality and global vision experts.
  • Provide vision expertise to support maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities

Technical expertise of AVI vision systems

  • Develop technical knowledge in AVI with the support of local and global experts and supplier and supports field technicians as well as production performance.
  • Continuous training on new technologies to understand them and define their application

Design a control strategy for the vision systems in regard of all variability sources

Recipe development

  • Apply the strategy for developing AVI recipes.
  • Follow up recipe development and ensures recipes meet expected performance and quality criteria.
  • Acts as the technical reference for AVI recipe development.

Support to the AVI vision team

  • Provide technical support for the deviation and non-conformance management process (root cause identification and execution of CAPAs to prevent recurrence of technically related deviations).
  • Lead investigations and trials related to improving vision processes (on AVI machines and upstream processes). Propose and implement improvement solutions.
  • Develop recipes to support the vision engineering team.

Knowledge management / Systems management

  • Acts as a consultant within the MU, providing proactive and reactive support in mentoring, coaching and problem solving within areas of expertise.
  • Manages technical documentation related to vision system knowledge and engineer training.

Quality / Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with legal constraints, local/international standards, GMP, regulatory requirements and GSK’s Quality Management System (QMS) policies/procedures.
  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and existing GMP procedures.

Basic Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent level of education.
  • Specialisation in Automation, Electromechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant job-related experience.
  • Technical understanding of automated visual inspection systems or similar vision/automation technologies.
  • Ability to support AVI recipe development and ensure recipes meet performance and quality expectations.
  • Experience supporting technical investigations, deviations, non-conformances, and CAPA execution.
  • Knowledge of GMP, regulatory requirements, Quality Management Systems, and applicable local/international standards.
  • Ability to work with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and technical experts to support vision system performance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering with a specific focus on Automation or Automated Visual Inspection.
  • Hands-on experience with Automated Visual Inspection systems in a pharmaceutical or GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience developing, fine-tuning, or improving vision recipes/programs to reduce false rejects and improve detection capability.
  • Strong understanding of vision system control strategy and variability sources.
  • Experience acting as a technical reference or subject matter expert for AVI recipe development.
  • Experience leading technical trials, root-cause investigations, and process-improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to mentor, coach, and provide technical guidance to colleagues within the manufacturing unit.
  • Experience managing technical documentation and supporting knowledge transfer/training related to vision systems.
