Our Translational ADME Biotransformation team in Beerse, Belgium, is looking for a highly motivated Senior or Principal Scientist to support drug discovery and development programs. The team is part of the department of Translational Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamics and Investigative Toxicology (TPPIT) and plays a pivotal role in support of drug metabolism related studies for small and large molecule drug discovery and development programs as well as in developing and applying advanced analytical chemistry solutions to solve mechanistic questions. We are a highly motivated team, and our laboratories are state-of-the-art. As part of the global Translational ADME community within TPPIT, you will have access to a large arsenal of in silico, in vitro, in vivo and analytical tools and the vast expertise of colleagues at our various research sites in Belgium and the United States.

Responsibilities

  • To manage and coordinate metabolite profiling and identification studies for a broad range of modalities (small molecules, degraders, peptides, oligonucleotides, etc.), including design, plan and conduct of in vitro incubations, perform high quality analysis and write high quality scientific reports
  • To perform liquid chromatography analysis with MS, UV and radioactive detection, including method development and data analysis and interpretation
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for biotransformations, putting data into broader context and suggest and develop follow-up in vitro or in vivo experiments
  • Effectively communicate data and their relevance to multidisciplinary project teams, management, and potential partners through internal and external presentations and publications
  • To keep abreast with the current advances in MS, automation and related technologies and apply new technologies and methods to increase sensitivity, quality and throughput

Qualifications

  • PhD in Medicinal/Organic Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Pharmacokinetics, Drug Metabolism or related field, or multiple years of relevant experience in the field of biotransformations
  • Hands-on experience in structure elucidation using mass spectrometry
  • In-depth knowledge of biotransformation reactions and enzymes involved
  • Hands-on experience with non-small modalities (oligonucleotides, peptides and proteins) is an asset
  • Experience with bioinformatics applications is an asset
  • Experience in maintenance of chromatography and mass spectrometry instrumentation and developing and troubleshooting LC/RAD and LC/high-resolution MS assays
  • Ability to independently diagnose and solve complex technical and scientific problems
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills in an international team setting, including a matrix environment
  • Proven track record of scientific achievement and project influence through publications and other interactions
  • The working language is English
  • Seniority level is currently open and will be selected based on experience
