Our client, Alpha Trains, is a dynamic and growing player in the European railway sector. As the business continues to evolve, they are looking for an experienced Director of Fleet Operations & Support Functions who can bring structure, drive change and turn operational complexity into scalable, high-performing operations.

This is an opportunity to make a real impact. You will take the lead in further developing Alpha Trains' locomotive operations, strengthening processes and systems, and ensuring the fleet performs at its best across European markets.

We are looking for a senior leader who combines strategic thinking with a hands-on approach. Someone who can bring structure and clarity to a changing environment, drive operational excellence, optimise processes and improve overall business performance. A leader who challenges the status quo and turns strategic ambitions into tangible results.

At Alpha Trains, shared ownership is key. The company values an open, non-hierarchical culture where people take initiative, assume responsibility and work together towards common goals. You will collaborate across functions and countries, partnering with colleagues and external service providers to continuously improve operational performance.

What you'll bring:

  • Significant experience leading complex operations, ideally in asset management, maintenance, leasing or a related service environment.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and the ability to understand, connect and oversee complex end-to-end operational processes.
  • The ability to deep-dive into operational processes, understand the underlying details and translate insights into structural improvements.
  • A proven track record in change management, process improvement and organisational development.
  • The ability to bring structure, establish clear priorities and implement scalable processes and systems.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective partnerships across functions and countries to achieve shared objectives.
  • Commercial acumen and a strong focus on operational performance, customer delivery and continuous improvement.

Railway experience is an advantage, but we are particularly interested in leaders who know how to professionalise operations, drive transformation and deliver sustainable business improvements.
