The job
The"WAVES"research group (http://www.waves.intec.ugent.be/ )is the expertise center of the Department of Information Technology of Ghent University/IMEC in Belgium for physical-layer research of advanced wireless networks.
A smart contact lens is a contact lens with integrated electronics providing sensing, actuation and wireless communication functionality. Applications are active vision correction or improvement, biomedical sensing and augmented reality for improvement of the well-being of the user. Characterization of on and off-body RF propagation with one node on the eye will be important. The smart lens will thus be part of wireless body area networks (WBAN). In this context of wireless sensor networks on the human body also RF exposure has to be assessed.
Important research domains in the context of WBANS and electromagnetic exposure research are:
- RF propagation and exposure induced by smart contact lens systems and antennas
- On-body and off-body wireless propagation of wearable (smart lens) systems
- Exposure assessment of smart contact lens systems
- Gel phantoms for experimental path loss and link budget assessment
You
We are looking for enthusiastic candidates to perform research in the domains above in both national and international European projects. Candidates with a Master degree in Electrical engineering and Physics engineering qualify for this research job. Experience is not necessary but interest in wireless communications is a definite plus.
We
We offer a pleasant work climate within a young dynamic team and the possibility of obtaining a PhD.
