Education

As an Educational Support Assistant, you play a key role in supporting pupils with special educational needs, ensuring their well-being, inclusion in school and success. Your main tasks are focused on three areas:

• Nursing and care
• Ensuring the pupils’ health, safety, and comfort, enabling them to participate fully in the school environment.
• Provide direct physical care, including assistance with mobility, toileting, feeding, and medical procedures as required.
• Monitor and support pupil’s health and well-being throughout the school day, including school activities outside the school premises.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, parents, and school staff to develop and implement individualised care plans.
• Maintain accurate records of care provided and any health-related incidents.
• Ensure the safe use and maintenance of any medical or mobility equipment.
• Pedagogical responsabilities
• Provide personalised educational support in class, in small groups or individually, to meet the specific needs of pupils.
• Participate in the design and implementation of differentiated teaching, in collaboration with teachers, to promote inclusion and success for all.
• Assist in the preparation and use of Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).
• Use assistive technologies and appropriate teaching tools to facilitate learning.
• Promote the integration of students into normal school activities by encouraging positive interactions and peer support.
• Implement strategies to encourage positive behaviour and manage complex situations in the classroom.
• Monitor pupils' progress, document successes and difficulties, and share observations with teachers
• Support pupils' social and emotional development by creating a caring environment and leading activities that build self-esteem, social skills and resilience.
• Collaboration, communication and professional development
• Work closely with educational teams and healthcare professionals to ensure consistent and appropriate support.
• Actively participate in student monitoring and assessment meetings in order to adjust intervention plans.
• Engage in continuous professional development to develop skills and share best practices with colleagues.

The Learning Support Teacher provides general, moderate or intensive support to nursery or primary pupils inside or outside the classroom setting working closely with the class teachers.

Profile

• Command of the section language equivalent to that of an educated native speaker;
• Appropriate diploma: diploma for teaching Support in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education (diploma subject to inspector validation);
• Minimum of 2 years’ professional experience in supporting pupils with special educational needs and/or as a teaching assistant;
• Contribution in close collaboration with the subject teachers to the pupil’s assistance with respect to their specific needs in their daily school routine;
• Recent experience in secondary education;
• Proven experience of excellent teaching practices and teamwork;
• Ability to teach mixed classes using effective differentiation;
• A high level of professionalism and attention to student wellbeing;
• Willingness to contribute to the life of the secondary school.

Preference Will Be Given To a Candidate Who

• Has teaching/assistance experience in a European or international school;
• Incorporates new technologies as a teaching tool;
• Undertakes to teach/assist from the lower secondary cycle to the baccalaureate cycle (pupils aged 11 to 18);
• Is fluent in another European language.
