Software Developer – Critical Systems – M/F/X

For one of our clients operating in a high-tech, safety-critical and regulated engineering environment, Akkodis is looking for a Software Developer based in Belgium.

You will contribute to the design and development of software tools and applications supporting complex technical systems. Depending on the project, you may work on simulation solutions, testing and maintenance capabilities or automation-related applications, with a strong focus on system reliability, operational performance and software quality.

The responsibilities:

• Collaborate with software architects to define clear and robust software specifications.
• Contribute to system architecture through technical discussions and design reviews.
• Design and develop software components primarily using C, C++, C# or Python.
• Ensure software quality and reliability through unit testing, integration testing and validation activities.
• Set up and maintain the software toolchain and version-control environment using Git/GitLab.
• Support integration between different software components and between software and hardware systems.
• Collaborate closely with test engineers, hardware designers, software developers and other technical stakeholders.
• Reuse, maintain and enhance existing solutions where relevant, including commercial off-the-shelf solutions.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and propose improvements to development practices, tools and methodologies.

The requirements:

• Master’s Degree or Engineering Degree in Computer Science, IT, Electronics or a related technical field.
• Professional experience in software development, ranging from medior to experienced profiles.
• Strong programming skills in C++, C# and/or Python.
• Knowledge of Git, GitLab and software configuration management.
• Previous experience in a regulated or safety-critical industry is considered a strong asset.
• Familiarity with Docker, network communication protocols or embedded Linux is an advantage.
• Analytical and quality-oriented mindset with a strong interest in technical problem-solving.
• Curious and proactive approach, with the ability to independently investigate technical challenges and identify appropriate solutions.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative and multicultural environment.
• Motivated to learn, develop and evolve alongside the engineering team.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of French is considered an asset.
