Freelance Senior Functional/Technical Analyst – Mainframe | Hybrid | Brussels
Are you an experienced Functional/Technical Analyst with a strong background in mainframe environments (DB2, IMS, COBOL)? Looking for an exciting freelance opportunity in Belgium?
We are looking for a Senior Analyst to contribute to both functional and technical analysis, working closely with business analysts, architects, and developers on a critical long-term project within the payroll sector.
The Role:
Translate business needs into functional and technical specifications.
Analyse and document end-to-end process & data flows.
Challenge business requirements for technical feasibility & risks and propose improvements.
Work with DB2, IMS, COBOL, MQ, TWS, Expeditor, ISPW in a mainframe environment.
Collaborate with architects, developers, and testers to ensure smooth implementation.
Support functional & end-to-end testing, adoption, and change management.
What We're Looking For:
5+ years of experience in functional/technical analysis.
Strong understanding of business processes, workflows, and IS testing.
Mainframe expertise – DB2, IMS, COBOL, MQ, TWS, Expeditor, ISPW.
Ability to read and analyse COBOL programs, even if not actively coding.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Communication in French, Dutch, and English (Due to the nature of the role, it requires a trilingual speaker)
Knowledge of Agile methodologies and payroll sector experience is a plus.
