Functional Analyst

Job Title: Functional Analyst Contract Duration: 05/01/2026- 03/02/2026 Location: Brussels, Belgium Work status: Hybrid Languages: English, Dutch and French Description: Service description: As a functional analyst, you will play a key role in analysing user needs and verifying the technical feasibility of proposed solutions. You will work closely with stakeholders to ensure that business requirements are well understood and aligned with existing IT solutions. Function Content You conduct needs analyses to gain a clear understanding of what the client wants and verify technical feasibility. You consult frequently to obtain our business requirements quickly, thoroughly, and comprehensively. You participate in the analysis of existing or new projects. You ensure that the client has a realistic picture of what they can expect so that the needs and the project are aligned with the existing IT structure and solutions. You proactively and assertively think in collaboration with the business about the impact of their requirements and propose alternatives if necessary. You develop detailed analyses and ensure that they are supported and approved by all relevant parties. You consult with developers and testers and guide them if necessary so that they can create or adapt applications to the client's wishes. As an analyst, you will be responsible for: Define the scope of the application, jointly with the business product owner. Supporting the role of Business Product Owner Write Use Cases / User Stories UML creation Backlog management Test the application (write and validate the tests) SKILLS Main generic skills Acting in a service-oriented manner: you support internal and external clients transparently, with integrity and objectivity, providing them with personalised service and maintaining constructive relationships; you also demonstrate empathy towards citizens in difficulty. Working as a team: you create and improve team spirit by sharing your opinions and ideas, and contributing to the resolution of conflicts between colleagues You have good oral and written communication skills Technical skills Ability to clearly describe desired and existing processes using functional architecture, use cases, data models, and business and functional requirements. Good knowledge of UML and BPMN. Skills in writing and revising documents for discussion with internal and external clients. Ability to translate processes into information usable by developers. Good understanding of Agile testing methods and development. Knowledge of SQL. Planning and managing Agile ceremonies Experience Relevant professional experience in the field of functional analysis, in which you performed at least four of the tasks listed below. You must have four years of experience in each of these tasks. Facilitating working groups Translating the needs into functional analysis Writing User Stories Experience in Agile and ITIL methodologies SQL writing LANGUAGES Your native language can be either Dutch or French. Given that you will be working in a bilingual environment, knowledge of the second national language (Dutch or French, depending on your native language) as well as English is an asset.
