As a Senior Finance Consultant , you will support public sector and private organisations in the operational and strategic management of their financial activities. You will combine hands on accounting expertise with a broader financial and organisational perspective, ensuring robust financial governance, regulatory compliance, and the continuous optimisation of financial processes.
You will act as a trusted partner for senior stakeholders, auditors, and external authorities , while contributing to financial strategy, transparency, and performance. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy and take responsibility for complex financial domains within client organisations.
Manage the general and analytical accounting of client organisations, including end to end ownership of accounting processes.
Prepare annual accounts, periodic financial reports, and in depth financial analyses for internal and external stakeholders.
Prepare, monitor, and control annual budgets and multi year financial plans, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.
Monitor treasury activities, investments, and liquidity, and provide clear visibility on cash flow and financial risks.
Act as the primary point of contact for auditors, the Court of Audit, tax authorities, and banking partners.
Participate actively in internal and external audits, ensuring audit readiness and timely resolution of findings.
Contribute to the definition and execution of financial strategy, providing forward looking insights and recommendations.
Optimise financial tools, reporting frameworks, and accounting processes to improve efficiency, reliability, and decision support.
Monitor and apply public procurement regulations relevant to financial management and accounting activities.
Support and advise management and governing bodies on financial, accounting, and compliance related matters.
Contribute to knowledge development, best practices, and methodology building within AION Consulting’s finance and transformation capabilities.
Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or an equivalent qualification.
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in accounting or financial management roles .
Proven experience in general and analytical accounting.
Strong experience in taxation and in the preparation and support of audits.
Excellent command of office software and accounting packages.
Thorough knowledge of French or Dutch, with operational knowledge of the other language. The consultant must demonstrate balanced proficiency across comprehension, reading, speaking, and writing in both languages.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate financial data into clear insights for decision makers.
High level of autonomy, accuracy, and sense of responsibility in managing critical financial activities.
Ability to interact confidently with senior stakeholders, external authorities, and control bodies.
Structured, reliable, and quality driven, with a continuous improvement mindset.
