Mechanical Design Engineer – Agricultural Innovation | West Flanders Are you a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer passionate about sustainable agricultural technologies? Do you want to work on groundbreaking projects that transform farming machinery and help feed the world more efficiently?
Our client, a fast-growing leader in agricultural machinery based in West Flanders, is searching for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative engineering team.
You'll be a key player in the full mechanical design lifecycle—from conceptualization and CAD modeling to prototyping and testing. Automation & robotics: developing autonomous systems for planting, harvesting, and soil management
Sustainable solutions: designing energy-efficient, low-emission machinery components
Your expertise will help shape durable, reliable, and cutting-edge agricultural machinery that meets the evolving needs of farmers worldwide.
Lead mechanical design efforts using advanced CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar) to create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings
Collaborate closely with electrical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and electronic systems
Conduct structural analysis, stress testing, and materials selection to guarantee safety and durability under harsh agricultural conditions
Manage prototyping phases, including overseeing build, testing, and validation of new machinery components
Continuously improve existing designs for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with industry standards
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
~3+ years of experience in mechanical design, ideally within agricultural machinery, heavy equipment, or robotics
~ Proficiency in 3D CAD design software (SolidWorks preferred) and familiarity with FEA tools
~ Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (welding, casting, machining) and materials science
~ Fluent in English; Dutch or French language skills are advantageous
