Function
You report to the international R&D Manager. Your mission consists in leading the R&D Department and translating the company strategy into clear research and development actions and strategy, in order to achieve an optimal match between the products offered and the customer's needs. You are the owner of the development flow for your scope of area (pipeline, priorities).
This includes work on Value creation, Value Optimization and Value Maintenance.
- You coach and work on the development of a Team of 6 dedicated collaborators.
- You support your team to develop strong new value propositions in product / visual / label / price / primary packaging, proactively look up for value optimization opportunities in both recipe as in processes and you support the operations’ teams in the issues they are facing.
- You lead multifunctional teams (purchasing - operation - marketing - QA) to ensure that an efficient approach of execution is guaranteed.
- You are responsible for the validation of new raw materials and packaging's, to ensure that you contribute towards the realization of the organization's strategic goals.
- You are responsible, together with the marketing team, to determine which projects will enter the pipeline, which priority and which timeline for the delivery.
- You validate new raw materials and packaging's.
- You draw up and follow the development budget, to ensure that sufficient resources are made available and that these are used in the best possible manner.
- You initiate the process optimization in consultation with Production, Engineering, Maintenance and Logistics.
- You make sure to keep yourself up-to-date regarding new market trends and research evolutions (new ingredients, packaging, processes ).
Profile
- Master’s degree in Sciences or bio-engineering.
- At least 5 years in a similar role.
- Passion, leadership, communication and operational excellence are part of your DNA.
- Food experience highly regarded.
- Experience in project management methodology, change management and team coaching.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills including an ability to collaborate and influence to meet business objectives and deliver an improved customer experience.
- Problem solving skills, analytic ability and be detail-oriented.
- Very good command of French and English (B2 level required). Dutch is an asset.
- Flexibility on work hours and geographical mobility (other sites in Belgium about once a week).
