Senior Advisor Risk Control & Engineering

What will the Job entail?

The risk engineer will go on the field to assess the property risks of the clients, to give advices related to Property Risk Management and write the survey based on which property underwriters will investigate the insurance market. This position involves the methodical identification, evaluation, and mitigation of various risk factors (fire, natural hazard, liability, etc.) to reduce an organization's potential to loss, and improve the overall cost of risk. You will also be accountable for the following:

- Conducting facility risk control surveys;
- Developing risk control management programs for prevention and improving premises or operations;
- Developing client loss estimates (MFL/PML) on site specific and portfolio basis to assist with insurance program designs;
- Carrying out new facility risk control project reviews and providing related advice;
- Conducting hazard identification and risk assessments at client sites ;
- Conducting incident investigations of client losses;
- Developing and delivering hazard awareness and loss prevention training ;
- Preparing insurance underwriting information reports and plot plans;
- Evaluating and responding to insurance company recommendations; and
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

The information obtained needs to be used to provide advice for the underwriter report, the visit report after visiting the insurer and the advice for the customer. Communication with the suppliers and public instances also needs to be covered.

The Risk Control Engineer will conduct property surveys and safety audits in order to assess the level of risk, edit underwriting information reports, on which underwriters will investigate the insurance market, and develop recommendations for prevention and mitigation of losses. He/She will also provide our customers with general advice related to building construction in view of insurance requirements and detailed specifications for fire prevention installations, including sprinkler systems.
- Underwriting Information Reports will be mainly written in English. Recommendation reports are written in English, Dutch and French.
- Working area will be mainly Belgium, but occasionally surveys abroad can be part of the job.

Job Requirements

You hold a master of engineering degree (mechanical, civil, chemical, electric, industrial or petroleum engineering);

You have at least 3 years of experience in the (global) insurance/broker market and consulting experience is an asset, as well as experience in an inspection or security service.

You are fluent in oral and written professional English and speak at least Dutch and/or French.

You have clear analytical competencies. Structure, organization and accurateness, as well as pro-active actions are important elements within an international organization. Your interest in (or knowledge of) Risk and Prevention matters, esp. property is the main driver to take on this challenge that has its focus on quality service for our customers.
