**Who we are supporting**

The NATO Communication and Information Agency (NCIA) is responsible for providing secure and effective communications and information technology (IT) services to NATO's member countries and its partners. The agency was established in 2012 and is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.

The NCIA provides a wide range of services, including:

- Cyber Security: The NCIA provides advanced cybersecurity solutions to protect NATO's communication networks and information systems against cyber threats.
- Command and Control Systems: The NCIA develops and maintains the systems used by NATO's military commanders to plan and execute operations.
- Satellite Communications: The NCIA provides satellite communications services to enable secure and reliable communications between NATO forces.
- Electronic Warfare: The NCIA provides electronic warfare services to support NATO's mission to detect, deny, and defeat threats to its communication networks.

Overall, the NCIA plays a critical role in ensuring the security and effectiveness of NATO's communication and information technology capabilities.

**Assistance and Advisory Service (AAS)**

The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency) is NATO's principal C3 capability deliverer and CIS service provider. It provides, maintains and defends the NATO enterprise-wide information technology infrastructure to enable Allies to consult together under Article IV, and, when required, stand together in the face of attack under Article V.

In order to provide these critical services, in the modern evolving dynamic environment the NCI Agency needs to build and maintain high performance engaged workforce. The NCI Agency workforce strategically consists of three major categorises: NATO International Civilians (NIC)s, Military (Mil) and Interim Workforce Consultants (IWC)s. The IWCs are a critical part of the overall NCI Agency workforce and make up approximately 15 percent of the total workforce.

**Role Background**

Based in Brussels, Belgium the Principal Cloud Architect will join the Agency as we embark on a journey to transform our IT services to support NATO's Digital Endeavour. The Chief Technology Office (CTO) is a key enabler of NATO's digital transformation. As the adoption of cloud technologies continues to accelerate, it has become crucial for NCI Agency to establish a Cloud Centre of Excellence (CCOE) within the CTO organic structure to ensure the effective and efficient implementation and management of cloud-based solutions. The primary objective of establishing a CCOE within the NCI Agency is to drive successful cloud adoption and maximize the potential of cloud technologies across the organization. The CCOE will serve as a central governing body, promoting best practices, enabling knowledge sharing, and ensuring alignment between business objectives and cloud initiatives. In the light of these activities, CTO CCOE is looking for a driven and enthusiastic Principal Cloud Architect.

**Role Duties and Responsibilities**
- Develop and execute a comprehensive cloud adoption strategy that aligns with the organization's business objectives and goals.
- Evaluate and select cloud service providers that meet the organization's requirements for security, compliance, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, security, finance, and business units, to ensure successful cloud adoption and integration.
- Ensure the organization's cloud infrastructure is secure, resilient, and scalable, and that disaster recovery and business continuity plans are in place.
- Attend virtual and in-person meetings

**Essential Skills and Experience**
- Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts, architectures, and technologies, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS).
- Experience with cloud service providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including knowledge of their respective offerings, pricing models, and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Knowledge of cloud security and compliance requirements, including data privacy, encryption, access controls, and regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
- Experience with cloud migration methodologies and tools, including assessment, planning, and execution of migration projects.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage timelines and budgets, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Experience with cloud governance frameworks and best practices, including cost optimization, resource allocation, and performance monitoring.
