Thales Belgium SA, Belgium competence center of Thales, is a company located on 2 sites, one in Tubize (near Brussels) and the other one in Herstal (near Liège). Thales Belgium, which employs more than 280 collaborators, is specialized in the design, development and supply of critical information systems for customers in the sectors of Defense, Security (including Cyber) and Aerospace.

We are looking for a:
**Legal Counsel**

**Mission**:
As legal counsel, you will provide general legal advice to the Belgium office of Thales with a strong focus on commercial and public procurement contracts.

The aim of the job is to secure the rights and interests of the company, reducing potential exposure and preventing legal actions.

The legal counsel works closely with Thales Belgium’s Legal & Contracts Director and Contract manager.

Your permanent office will be located in Tubize with occasional visits to Herstal site

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Drafting, reviewing, amending and negotiating (general) commercial contracts (e.g. procurement and supplier contracts, service agreements, letters of intent, MOU, NDA, etc ) and company templates (Sales & Purchase T&Cs,)
- Understand and manage complex supply chains from a contractual perspective upstream and downstream
- Ensure that contractual, commercial and technical risks (ability to understand technical and commercial aspects of contracts) to the business are minimized and the company’s operating needs are met all along a project (from bid phase to contract performance)
- Advising on public tenders and giving legal assistance to the bid team in preparation of their offer
- Contract management: legal support during the execution phase of major projects, in close co-operation with the project managers;
- Assist the Legal & Contracts Director in compliance matters
- Give basic legal and compliance training to your internal clients

**Profile**:

- You are a Belgian trained lawyer
- You have 8 to 10 years experience in commercial and public procurement law in an international (technology) company or in a law firm and have been exposed to both domestic and international commercial contracts
- Knowledge of IT law (cybersecurity, data protection) will be considered as an asset
- Relevant contract negotiation and drafting skills; excellent communication skills and writing abilities
- You are a team player and you communicate very easily and efficiently with your colleagues, yet you are able to work independently and duly manage your workload and priorities
- You are approachable, pragmatic and creative
- Fluent in French, Dutch and English
- A good IT knowledge is appreciated
