**What does this job entail?**:
At KBC we use a number of models to support business decisions. These cover the domains of Credit, Markets, Finance, Asset Management and Insurance. In what domain is this vacancy? It is in Markets.

As a Model Validator, you **check and challenge** - qualitatively and quantitatively - the models used in Financial Markets. The end result? Beter and stronger models that allow us to make good decisions.

**What do we expect from you?**:

- You **validate models**, independently from a to z.
- You **present your findings** to model owners, Chief Risk Officers and Chief Financial Officers. Based on your analyses and your knowledge of regulations and business practices you give substantiated answers to the questions ‘Can we use this model? Does it do what it is meant to?’
- You are in frequent contact with colleagues in Belgium and abroad, and sometimes also external parties like auditors and regulators. So you build an **interesting network.**:

- You contribute to discussions regarding **methodology.**

**Your key strengths?**:

- You have a quantitative background, i.e., a Master’s degree or a PhD in (Applied) Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Econometrics, etc.
- You have good programming skills (Python, Matlab)
- Knowledge of financial products or models is a valuable plus but not a must
- You communicate effectively in English, both oral and written
- Giving clear advice regarding complex issues? No problem for you.
- You like to work independently. Always with respect for deadlines.
- Just like your colleagues you like to help others and to continue to learn on the job.
- You look forward to having an impact on the model landscape of KBC Group.
