**Goal of the internship**:
Learning Target: The major fields covered are electricity (theory and design), programming (ST or others), modelling (Simulink-compiled), power quality and data acquisition and practical constructions.

The project approach (V1) is shown in the following figure:
Technically speaking, the project will cover hardware and software design and construction phases, with a strong accent set on the interoperability and integration of external demands (e.g., power converters testing, energy management strategies deployment, demonstrations, Software acceptance tests, Laboratory acceptance tests, safety and protections of DC grids, monitoring and measurement campaigns,).

The scope of the student’s work will be defined according to the needs of the project (time-based) and the student’s preferences. It is expected for the student to take a role in one or more tasks of this project. The internship and thesis comes along with reporting tasks (oral and written) as well as with weekly technical reportings and discussions.

- Bachelor degree in in Electrical / Electromechanical / Energy / Automation engineering;
- Some experience with MATLAB and Simulink modeling environments for simulation and control (basic 101 expected);
- The student understands and gets quickly acquainted with PLC environments (basic 101 expected);
- Interest in developing industrial-graded programs (3-steps: design - testing - validation);
- Targeted improvements: automation of test set-up, PLC programming, electrical simulation, acceptance testing, electrical design
- Result oriented, responsible and proactive;
- A good communicator, able to communicate in English;
- _Internship and thesis are to be performed and redacted in English and / or Dutch. Short daily tutoring in French is allowed, but English and / or Dutch remain the main professional languages (practical challenge for the student)._
- Eager to learn and a team player.
- Only EEA (or Swiss) nationals can be accepted for internships due to work permit regulations._

This proposal is for an **internship of** 3 months duration (**6 weeks minimum**), **followed by a thesis period** of min. 3 months. The internship takes place at the offices of Flanders Make located in Leuven, Belgium.
