CI Europe leads CI’s engagement with European partners: European Union institutions, European governments, European corporate and foundations, and other key stakeholders for policy, partnerships, and funding opportunities relevant to CI’s global mission. CI's project portfolio of European-based bilateral and multilateral donors is growing rapidly in number and size. Managing these complex projects requires experts that can ensure timely, on scope, and budget project delivery.
Conservation International (CI) is seeking a Grant Manager, who will be responsible for supporting CI staff and field teams in the maintenance of CI’s public donor portfolio through engagement with European public bilateral and multilateral donors. The position will ensure that all administrative and financial aspects of grants and contracts management (including reporting) are performed efficiently and to a high standard of quality, through the entire project lifecycle. This position will play an integral role in ensuring that CI’s portfolio of publicly funded grants and contracts complies with donor requirements as well as internal requirements, with an emphasis on reporting quality and strengthening internal grant management capacity. The Grant Manager provides expert guidance to CI programs while assisting in the development of influential and beneficial relations with public donors, and is responsible for ensuring quality stewardship of existing accounts in the portfolio.
The Grant Manager will also provide general administrative support to the Grants Management team by ensuring the integrity of data in the grants and contracts database(s), analyzing data, and organizing team coordination meetings. This position is based in Europe and reports to the US-based Senior Director of the Grants Management & Delivery team.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Support CI staff and field teams in the management and coordination of CI’s bilateral and multilateral accounts (as assigned), including timely editing and submission of quarterly and final reports. Provide comments and revisions to ensure technical reports conform to donor requirements for content and format.
- Maintain regular communications with field teams on grant-funded projects; schedule briefings and check-in meetings on a weekly or monthly basis.
- Coordinate with field teams on communications to donors and field visits by donors.
- Coordinate with CI’s Awards Management Services and Grants Policy & Management team on financial reporting requirements by public donors.
- Maintain a calendar for required reports to public donors and dissemination of timely notifications and reminders to CI field teams regarding upcoming deadlines.
- Ensure that all relevant information about donors within CI’s public funding portfolios is entered and updated in internal databases such as Raiser's Edge on a weekly basis.
- Schedule and organize kick-off and close-out meetings for grants and contracts, which includes support on project close-out and internal knowledge management. This may include supporting the development of briefs and memos.
- Assist Portfolio Leads with other grants management tasks as needed, including attendance at team meetings and donor meetings.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- This is a full-time permanent position.
- Typical office environment. May need to work extended hours as needed.
- This position follows a hybrid work structure, 2 days onsite and 3 days working remotely.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
***Required**
- A Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, public policy, international relations/development studies or natural resource management and a minimum of 4 to 6 years of relevant experience.
- Strong program management skills, writing, and oral skills.
- Good knowledge of donor institutional frameworks.
- Experience with networking, developing, and managing partnerships across a range of stakeholders.
- Basic understanding of conservation, development, and political issues in the European Union and globally.
- Strong proven interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment that requires collaboration and networking with others in dispersed locations.
- Comfortable managing multiple duties and adapting to changing priorities.
- Service focus. Courteous, tactful, and proven ability to work effectively with others.
