The goal of Degroof Petercam is to manage personal or professional assets of clients, protect them against unforeseen events, finance their projects, diversify their investments and give them a social dimension.

**Context**:
We are looking for an intern who would like to join the Private Banking Risk & Control department. This department is the first line of defense for Investment and Business activities related to Private Banking.
The Control officer performs the overall first level control & risk management. This role involves close work with all department across Private Banking.

**Your Position**:

- Your responsibilities will be to:
- Assist all PB Control officers in their search in the various electronic databases (CRM, ICN, etc.).
- Perform some straightforward controls - e.g., client classification, phone records, etc.
- Design control reports summarizing the outcome of the controls performed and propose action plan to improve the situation, when needed.
- Write and/or review the working instructions detailing how to perform the controls.

Depending on your ability to handle straightforward controls, you might move to the next step:
- Challenge and perform controls over various critical investment or business-related processes including, but not limited to, trade suitability review, order taking validation, account activity review, etc.
- Act as an intermediary between Private Bankers, Portfolio Managers, and the second line of defense (i.e., Financial & Operational Risk Management and Compliance) to ensure our way of working is fully in line with the current regulation framework.

In addition, you will oversee one of those projects, depending on your competencies on the field:
- Identifying all changes that the brand-new platform will bring to the way we currently perform our controls and update our working instructions accordingly.
- Preparing the Quarterly Control Report dedicated to the Private Banking Management Committee, Head of Audit, Head of Risk, and Head of Compliance.
- Follow up on the evolution, identify the big trends, and draw conclusions for the future. Prepare communication to the Management Committee in the context of the Quarterly Report.

**Your Profile**:

- Studies- You are currently a student in an economics-related field (i.e., Business Engineering, Economics, Applied Economics, Finance, Management, Accounting, Audit, etc.).
- You are available five days per week for 4 to 6 months.

Competencies & Skills for the job- You are fluent in French and/or Dutch, with a good knowledge of English.
- You are a team player showing enthusiasm, critical mind, creativity, and attention to detail.
- You have good command of Excel.
