**Mission statement**:
The Head Automation's primary role involves guiding their team through the development, production, and life cycle management of automation systems integrated into AT equipment. This encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, from the initial development of new equipment to managing client projects and ensuring the ongoing viability of automation solutions.

**1. Development of New Equipment**:

- ** Technical Solutions**: Collaborate with other SKAN units to define automation concepts and solutions, ensuring seamless integration.
- ** Safety and Specifications**: Conduct Functional Safety Analysis (FSA) and develop Functional Description Specifications (FDS).
- ** User Interface**: Establish user-friendly HMI requirements for intuitive operation.
- ** System Architecture**: Design the automation and supervision structure to fulfill FDS criteria.
- ** Components Selection**: Choose appropriate sensors, actuators, and instruments based on FDS.
- ** Electrical Standards**: Define electrical specifications adhering to safety and relevant standards.
- ** Design Review**: Examine automation design documents, including IO Lists, SDS, SMS, and Flowcharts.
- ** Technical Support**: Offer guidance to Automation Engineers, focusing on technical and regulatory knowledge.
- ** Budget Management**: Outline and monitor the automation development budget.

**2. Client Projects**:

- ** Sales Support**: Assist in the quotation process for new functionalities.
- ** Change Management**: Handle client-requested modifications, assessing impacts and managing cost estimations and change controls.
- ** Electrical Modifications**: Update electrical drawings to meet specific client requirements and standards.
- ** Project Execution**: Oversee the automation aspects of projects, ensuring successful delivery to the qualification team.
- ** Engineering Management**: Guide Automation Engineers through changes, qualifications, commissioning, and after-sales service.

**3. Life Cycle Management**:

- ** Change Control**: Address post-delivery software and hardware modifications requested by clients, managing costs and change controls.
- ** Software Configuration**: Oversee software configuration across different equipment types.
- ** Technical Support**: Train and support field and automation engineers for on-site tasks during and post-warranty periods.
- ** Obsolescence Management**: Work with the Life Cycle Manager to predict component obsolescence and propose solutions.

**4. Team Management**:

- ** Leadership**: Coordinate and support internal and external Automation Engineers.
- ** Planning**: Develop and manage work schedules to match project demands.
- ** Resource Allocation**: Ensure the availability of automation resources meets project needs.
- ** Skill Alignment**: Align engineers' skills with project requirements and expectations.
- ** Performance Reviews**: Conduct evaluations to assess and improve team performance.
