**The role**

As Java & Python developer, you will work in a global and cross-functional environment. Within team.blue we use oVirt as a virtualization platform. This platform is completely based on open-source technology and was maintained by RedHat in the past. Because this is such an important platform for team.blue, we have chosen to hire someone internally to further develop and maintain this platform.

You will be at the basis of improving and optimizing this platform so that more than 5,000 critical servers can run on it in the future, in various European countries and data centers.

You are an experienced Java developer but also have knowledge of other programming languages such as Python. Because oVirt mainly supports Linux technology, we also expect you to have some in depth Linux knowledge. Things like KVM, Qemu, libvirt and the like are no strangers to you.

**Required qualifications and experience**
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar role
- Extensive and strong Java developer skills
- Knowledge of Wildfly/JBoss is a plus
- Basic to medium knowledge of the Python programming language (oVirt backend is written in it)
- You know what Ansible is and already have mínimal experience in it
- Extensive and strong Git knowledge (Pipelines, CI/CD)
- You know the open-source world and have experience in contributing to projects and being part of this community
- You have strong Linux knowledge and know your way around this operating system
- You have basic knowledge of Qemu and Libvirt
- You are result-driven, analytical, forward-thinking and you can work independently
- Fluent English language skills, spoken and written

**Responsibilities**
- Be the internal maintainer of the oVirt development project
- Ensure that oVirt continues to work with the constantly changing Linux and kernel technologies
- Build improvements to keep this important virtualization platform contemporary and modern
- You are the active oVirt expert in the group and learn all the ins and outs of this platform
- You set up a structure so that you can work with multiple people on this project in the future
- You will be part of the migration projects where we will move more workloads on oVirt in the future
