Investment Associate

**Position description**

D’Ieteren Group is looking for an investment associate to strengthen its investment team. The investment associate will be responsible for sourcing and analysing prospective investment opportunities, deal execution as well as contributing to the development of portfolio companies.

D’Ieteren Group is a family-controlled listed investment firm (market capitalization of c.€10bn as of Feb’23) that seeks to invest in platform companies which are or have the potential to become leaders in their markets and benefit from multiple opportunities to generate value over the long-term for employees, customers, society and shareholders. We target to deploy large amounts of capital (equity tickets of min c.€100m) into various platforms across different sectors and strive to accompany the development of each of our companies with a long-term focus. To date, D’Ieteren Group portfolio comprises six companies:

- **_D’Ieteren Automotive_** (100% owned) - the historic family business as the exclusive importer and distributor of VW Group vehicles in Belgium
- **_Belron_** (50% owned - 50% remaining collectively owned by global private equity funds, CD&R, H&F, Blackrock and GIC, and management) - the worldwide leader in vehicle glass repair, replacement and recalibration services with marker leading brand including Carglass®, Safelite® and Autoglass®
- **_ Moleskine_** (100% owned) - a premium and aspirational lifestyle brand that develops and sells iconic branded notebooks and writing, travel and reading accessories
- **_ D’Ieteren Immo_** (100% owned) - the real estate arm of D’Ieteren Group in Belgium, which actively develops and manages the real estate portfolio of D’Ieteren Group
- **_ TVH _**(40% owned - 60% remaining owned by the Thermote family) - the global independent leader in the distribution of aftermarket parts for material handling, construction & industrial and agricultural equipment
- **_ PHE _**(c.91% owned) - a leader in the independent distribution of spare parts for vehicles in Western Europe, present in France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxemburg, Italy and Spain

**Position description**
- New investment(s) search:

- Conduct sector/market studies and market screenings to identify attractive companies
- Analyse potential investment opportunities (company & market research, financial & valuation analysis, etc.)
- Participate in investment committees and contribute to the assessment of targets
- Participate in external events (e.g. company visits, analyst days, conferences) and perform expert calls
- Participate to ongoing/live situations and deal processes (due diligence etc.)
- Model and structure potential new investment opportunities
- Portfolio management:

- Actively support portfolio companies on various dimensions (strategy, execution, organization, people, etc.)
- Draft the reporting of the performance of the portfolio companies for D’Ieteren Group board
- Support the portfolio companies on ad hoc assignments (project-based)

**Profile**
- c.2-3 years of experience in strategy consulting, investment banking or private equity/corporate finance
- Master’s student or early graduate in business/finance/engineering with excellent academic results
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in financial modelling and Microsoft Office suite
- Team player with proactive attitude, deep sense of ownership and interest for private equity/investment
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Professional proficiency in English and French required, knowledge of Dutch and/or other languages is a plus
