Internal Accountant

At Companions, an investment company focused on growing SME's, we strive for sustainable growth through expertise in finance, strategy, and operations. Our finance & accounting team is seeking a new internal accountant to manage and improve the financial administration of our portfolio companies.

**Your contribution**:
As an internal accountant, you will be jointly responsible for financial administration and accounting. Accounting queries and responsibilities from our companies will come to you. Under the guidance of our colleagues, you will assist in the following areas:

- Monitoring portfolio companies in the SME segment, including monthly closures, controls, finalization of monthly bookings, and provisions.
- Processing and reconciling incoming and outgoing invoices, payments, and payroll documents.
- Preparing periodic VAT returns and listings.
- Preparing year-end operations and closures.
- Preparing various periodic reports.
- Preparing the drafting of annual accounts and reports.
- Preparing the corporate tax return.
- Preparing various legal declarations.
- If you also have an interest in contributing to our internal operations, we would like to involve you in one of our working groups, where we will work with your input to simplify workflows and increase the quality and efficiency of our work.

**We are looking for**:

- You have a bachelor's degree in Accountancy - Taxation, or equivalent.
- You have at least 3 years of experience in accounting.
- You are meticulous, discreet, and detail-oriented.
- You are strong in communication, positive-minded, and a true team player.
- You are flexible and willing to commute between our different companies in Flanders occasionally
- Experience with VAT returns.
- Experience with monitoring SMEs, including controls, inventory processing, and personnel costs. Experience with VAT returns and monthly closures is a plus but not required.
- Fluent in Dutch. Knowledge of English and French is a plus.
- The ability to supervise other accountants is a plus.
- Experience with Exact Online is a plus
