What you will do
You will be a member of the CMP team at imec that is responsible for developing processes that help build devices for imec’s Logic, Memory, Interconnect, Life Sciences... program activities. The team currently consists of ~14 people with whom you interact on a daily basis. However, you will also work in a dynamic multidisciplinary environment in close cooperation with other researchers, scientists, hardware engineers, device and process experts, equipment vendors, industrial assignees and operators.
More specifically, your tasks include:
- Planning, organizing, executing and first-line reporting on CMP experiments in imec’s 300mm cleanroom.
- Planning, organizing, executing and first-line reporting on post-CMP metrology and characterization.
- Interfacing with CMP R&D engineers, researchers, Fab Engineering and Operations.
- Interfacing with CMP tool and material assignees within the team to carry out experiments in Joined Learning Projects.
- Support the testing of new materials and CMP consumables.
You will be coached on-the-job by senior colleagues and the CMP team supervisor.
You will work in a shift regime alternating between early-late-weekend and night shift that is aligned with the other CMP Process Assistants in the team.

Who you are
- You have a Bachelor degree or equivalent by experience. Proven experience in the field of CMP is an asset but not mandatory.
- You will require a strong capability to work independently with a focus on quality and cycle time.
- You will actively participate in a range of CMP development projects.
- You have good communication skills since you will work in a multicultural team of imec researchers, support process engineers and operators, and industrial partners.
- You are a team player with good networking skills and you have good reporting skills.
- Since your job consists of a variety of activities, a flexible attitude towards your tasks is required. Your tasks will be managed and monitored in a CMP planner system in MS Teams.
- Given the international character of imec, good knowledge of (spoken and written) English is a must.
