About you and this role

We are looking for you, an ambitious Bachelor’s /Master’s student, to support our Mobility and Transportation Electronics by doing an internship project in Volatiles characterization and comprehension of silicone materials used in electronics for Automotive market, for our location in Seneffe, Belgium.

The department that will welcome you is the Mobility and Transportation Electronics Technical Service & Development. This technical department supports technical requests and future developments of silicone materials that will be used in the Automotive industry from Tier 1 and OEMs customers.

Due to the automotive electrification, the need of silicone materials is increasing. Therefore, to support the automotive market, a data set of different properties needs to be created to answer the market needs but also to anticipate the development of new technologies based on previous results. Thermal conductivity, thermal impedance and fogging behaviour are the main properties that will help to differentiate Dow’s products from other technologies/competitors.

**Responsibilities**:

- Measure the thermal properties of different silicone materials using different testing methods.
- Measure the fogging behavior of different silicone materials.
- Improve the reliability and reproducibility of measuring methods if needed.
- Statistically prove the robustness of all measuring methods (MSA studies).
- Change the reticulation duration and technologies for the fogging test (RTV vs heat cure vs radical cure, CV polymer vs std polymer).
- Interpret the results based on the different silicone chemistries involved and different parameters.

**Qualifications**:

- You are currently studying for a bachelor/master’s degree or equivalent in material science, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, applied chemistry or any related field.
- You have a good working knowledge of English and French.
- You are comfortable with basics of organic chemistry and Physics.
