The Department of Mathematics in the Faculty of Sciences has up to two fulltime vacancies:
**Full-time (100%) postdoctoral research scholarship (‘postdoctoraal bursaal’) in the field of Algebraic Geometry**

**Position**
- You will carry out high-quality academic research in algebraic geometry and/or related areas. The position is part of an FWO founded project entitled “New birational invariants and the geometry of moduli spaces”.
- You will report on the results of your research and produce academic publications.
- You will take part in the organisation of research events and activities.
- You will contribute to the development of the research group.
- There are no a priori teaching obligations with the position, yet the flexible expectation is that you help as a TA or instructor with one course per year (=2 hour/week one semester per year).
- You will have the opportunity (if you want) to teach your own course and/or supervise bachelor and master thesis.

**Profile**
- You hold a PhD in Mathematics or equivalent by the time of the start of your appointment.
- You have relevant research expertise in Algebraic Geometry or related areas.
- Your research qualities are in line with the faculty and university research policies.
- A working proficiency in English is necessary. Proficiency in Dutch is not required.
- You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation.
- You are able to carry out your work and achieve your objectives with a high degree of independence.
- You are motivated to work actively on your further professional development. In this, you can make use of a wide range of training courses and professionalisation opportunities.

**What we offer**
- We offer an appointment as a postdoctoral scholarship holder for a period of **three years**.
- Your gross monthly salary is calculated according to the pay scale for a postdoctoral scholarship holder.
- You will receive ecocheques, Internet-connectivity allowance and a bicycle allowance or a full reimbursement of public transport costs for commuting.
- The planned start date is flexible, but not sooner than **1 November 2024.**:
