**ASSIGNMENT**
This position is situated in the department of Rehabilitation Sciences of the faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The appointment includes a teaching, research and service assignment in which you will interact closely with Ghent University Hospital.
**Academic education**
You lecture various course units in the discipline of Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy in the domain of neurological disorders. The educational assignment contains contributions to the bachelor and master years.
**Academic research**
You are expanding research in the field of Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy within the domain of neurological disorders. The focus is primarily on acquired brain disorders, where both applied fundamental and applied clinical research are possible within the scope of the research domain. Emphasis is preferably placed on analyzing movement behavior in given populations with potential translation to the field of rehabilitation and physiotherapy in the described domain. Integration of technology in research and clinical practice, considering current and future developments in assessment and treatment in the given patient populations, is an important aspect.
The Department of Rehabilitation Sciences collaborates closely with Ghent University Hospital, particularly with the departments of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Neurology, and the Rehabilitation Center at Ghent University Hospital. You are expected to further expand and integrate this collaboration within cooperative initiatives involving similar academic and clinical partners.
**Academic services**
You take part in the internal and external service provision of the department of Rehabilitation Sciences, amongst others by translating the results of your research to the broader public.
During your career, you are willing to include roles and management positions that are relevant to the department and/or faculty.
You take an active role in the academic and scientific dissemination of your research field, closely collaborating with academic clinical partners with whom you foster a collaboration.
**PROFILE**
**Experience**
- You have already conducted eminent academic research in the given discipline, which is clearly reflected in publications in high-quality academic journals and peer-reviewed books;
- You are capable of initiating, supervising and acquiring the necessary funding for academic research;
- You are didactically skilled to teach university students to develop academic competences;
- You already have experience in movement research of given patient populations, setting up studies in the given field of movement research, analyzing research data, and reporting on it;
- You have an (inter)national research network within the aforementioned research domain;
- Recommended are:
- International mobility, among other things thanks to research stays at institutions external to the one where you acquired your highest academic degree;
- Positively evaluated experience in provided or organised academic lecturing;
- Professionalisation of education;
- Experience in designing and conducting clinical scientific research within the quaternary sector (e.g., hospitals, healthcare institutions);
- An acquired or to be acquired special expertise in neurological physiotherapy.
- You must master the language of instruction in which you will teach a course at CEFR- level C1.You can demonstrate this by means of a language certificate or a diploma obtained from an institution in which that language is the language of instruction. In addition, Article II.270, -1 of the Codex of Higher Education requires that: (i) you must master the Dutch language at least at CEFR-level A2 within two years after the start of the appointment. (ii) you must be able to master the Dutch language at least at CEFR-level of B2 within five years after the start of the appointment.
