**What does this job entail?**:
The theme of ‘sustainability’ is high on the social agenda. As an organisation, we need to **fulfil our responsibilities to operate more sustainably**. And we are doing that. This responds to the expectations of legislators, our shareholders, our staff members, and our clients. Our team strives to **integrate sustainability into KBC’s core activities**.
We would like to introduce you to the Group Corporate Sustainability Department. We are a small but growing centre of expertise within the KBC Group. We set policies and ensure they are properly implemented, working closely with local sustainability experts in the different branches of the KBC Group.
Your focus in our team is **implementing** change in line with our policies and the legal landscape. We believe that **sustainability and economic interests can be reconciled**. Do you too?
**What do we expect from you?**:
- You give KBC business entities well-founded **advice** on environmental issues and help them analyse their impact on our business.
- You **proactively **direct different KBC Group entities to new opportunities to reduce our ecological footprint.
- Your advice helps our clients—companies and private citizens—in the transition to a more sustainable economy.
- You generate interest in the risks resulting from environmental issues. You tackle these risks proactively and specifically for the issues and/or sectors that you’re focused on.
**Your key strengths?**:
- You have **at least four years of experience **in a job related to **sustainability, ESG and/or data**—preferably in the financial sector or a large consultancy company—and you have **good knowledge of the EU Taxonomy.** Do you also have experience with insurances? That would definitely catch our attention.
- You have a relevant university degree, e.g. in environmental sciences, economic sciences, or industrial sciences.
- Your previous work experience has given you all the skills that are needed to initiate and attract **complex policy assignments**: analysing, synthesising, presenting, problem-solving, establishing a network of contacts and of course, being convincing.
- You stand firmly on your own. You have everything needed to be the **driving force** behind the implementation of a policy; you adapt easily to different situations, are happy to take initiative, and persist when things become more difficult.
- You communicate fluently in **English** with a variety of stakeholders.
- You’ll find knowledge of business operations, business processes, credits or credit policies will be a huge benefit. Experience with financial reporting or data would also be a plus.
