BirdLife Europe and Central Asia is a **Partnership of 44 national conservation organisations **and a leader in bird and habitat conservation. We use our unparalleled bird science to inform world-class conservation around the planet designed to tackle the global biodiversity and climate crises in concrete ways.
BirdLife ECA is one of the six regional Secretariats that compose BirdLife International, the global authority on the status of bird species. Based in Brussels, we support the European and Central Asian Partnership and are present in 44 countries including all EU Member States.
Working in a small, dynamic team, the Communications Intern will assist with our social media work, primarily with TikTok, but also other social media channels, to engage with young audiences, promoting BirdLife and the Partnership’s initiatives. The primary goal is to connect with youth for our 2024 EU elections campaigns.
- Hands-on, demonstrable experience with running a TikTok account
- Understanding and interest in social media trends (beyond TikTok is an asset)
- Knowledge on how to develop and produce engaging multimedia content
- The ability to handle multiple tasks, and work in a fast-paced, international environment
- A passion for nature, wildlife, and sustainability
- Flawless knowledge of written English, other European languages are an asset
**The main duties of the Communications Intern**:
- Set up and run an account on TikTok
- Conceptualize and produce compelling social media content that aligns with BirdLife’s values and objectives;
- Support BirdLife Partners in the production of social media products to be used at national level
- Utilize creative storytelling techniques and innovative formats to effectively deliver BirdLife messages to a broader audience
- Collaborate with the Communications team to ensure consistent branding and messaging across all digital platforms;
- Analyze social media trends, algorithms, and metrics to optimize content performance and maximize our outreach;
- Develop high-quality visual and multimedia materials suitable for social media
- Engage with followers, respond to comments, and foster a welcoming and informative community on our TikTok account and other social media channels
- Continuously brainstorm and propose fresh content ideas to keep our TikTok presence, and other channels, exciting and impactful
- Potentially travel to workshops and meetings
**Location**:
The position is based in Brussels, Belgium. BirdLife offers a hybrid workplace model where presence in the office is required at least twice per week.
You must hold the right to work in Belgium or the EU.
