**Position Summary**:
We are looking for a **Facilities Technician **to help us establish and maintain a secure and well-functioning work environment.

Part of your job will be to check devices, structures and systems (e.g., fire alarms and air conditioners) on a regular basis and identify needs for repairs and renovations. You will also coordinate with external vendors, such as cleaners and insurance agents, and conduct cost analyses when purchasing new systems or services.

To be successful in this role, you should be well-organized and able to prioritize multiple issues. You should also have a good knowledge of basic office equipment.

Ultimately, you’ll help our employees, customers and guests get the most out of our facilities.

**Primary Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Arrange for regular maintenance of equipment and internal systems (e.g., heating system, alarms, security cameras)
- Check rooms and furniture to identify needs for repairs or renovations.
- Restock office and kitchen supplies.
- Design and oversee the schedule for cleaning and disinfecting the building.
- Monitor activities that happen outside the building, such as proper waste disposal and recycling
- Fix minor malfunctions in office equipment.
- Coordinate office and parking space allocation.
- Keep track of regular and ad-hoc facility expenses.
- Conduct market research and compare costs and benefits when evaluating new vendors.
- Maintain an updated record of invoices from external partners (e.g., suppliers, insurance agents, security guards)
- Research new services and appliances to facilitate operations.
- Identify any risks, fix and report appropriately.
- Keep the necessary administration on the facility systematic and in good order, including all contact with local authorities
- Help the local management create and set standards on proper use of the facility, up to setting practical house rules on the use of the kitchen
- **Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations**:_
- Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines.
- Prepare, introduce and enforce policies to establish a culture of good health and safety practices (new starters, to regular safety walks)
- Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
- Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention.
- Monitor compliance with policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations.
- Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions.
- Ensure any accidents are logged correctly and reported to senior management.
- Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle worker’s compensation claims.
- Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures.
- Report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics.

**Qualifications**:

- Good knowledge of Dutch and English, both written and oral.
- Ability to work safely, organised, accurately and cleanly.
- Work experience as a Facilities Technician / Coordinator or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of facilities management operations.
- Familiarity with office equipment and security systems.
- Understanding of health & safety regulations in offices.
- Sound judgement and the ability to think quickly during emergencies.
- Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines.
- Excellent organizational and motivational skills.
- Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
- A drive to constantly maintain or improve cost savings.
- Valid qualification in occupational health and safety, mínimal Level 3 (BE)

**Desirable**:

- Proven experience in a technical laboratory and warehouse environment

*This position will be required to be onsite at our Mechelen facility 5 days a week

**Physical Requirements**
- All positions will require, to some degree, the physical abilities described below to perform the essential functions of the job
- Work the expected hours, consistently arrive at work at the agreed time and follow Company rules and guidelines regarding breaks and meal periods. This role will typically work 40 hours per week with additional work time as needed
- Communicate effectively, both oral and written
- Move around and through all work areas as needed, may include climbing stairs or ladders
- Lift and/or move up to 20 kilos
- Regularly sit at the assigned workstation
- Use keyboard or equivalent equipment, to access the computer
- Use hands to manipulate documents and general paperwork to view contents
- Read documents, reports, files etc.
