The Belgian Biodiversity Platform (BBPF) is an interface body between science and policy, funded by the Federal Science Policy Office (BELSPO) and supported by a cooperation agreement between the federal and relevant federated authorities. Within the domain of biodiversity, it acts as a mediator between policy, science and practice.
You support the development of transversal projects and activities (science, policy and practice) related to One Health and build on previous BBPF initiatives on biodiversity and health (One Health).
You first map the Belgian One Health landscape (actors, research communities, knowledge (gaps), research needs,...).
You partly coordinate the PREZODE project (Preventing ZOonotic Disease Emergence), a science-policy interface integrating biodiversity and One Health.
You coordinate the development of a One Health strategy on zoonoses.
You support and facilitate the Belgian One Health Network: you update the website, organise network activities, coordinate working groups,...; you ensure and strengthen the dialogue between science and policy and practice;
You follow the research agendas on the One Health theme and track new developments on emerging issues, funding sources, and potential relevance for the One Health community.
You also develop toolkits (e.g. best practices) and support capacity development activities at both national and regional levels.
You support the development of One Health scientific policy guidelines
