**Senior Java Developer in Brussels_European Commision
**CONTEXT/INTRODUCTION**

Unit R4 of DG EAC develops Information Systems to support the needs of DG EAC's programmes, most notable the Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps programme. The delivery of IT systems intends to support its stakeholders, which include among other public and private organizations, National Agencies and DG EAC units, by delivering digital solutions to support their needs. In close collaboration with other Commission services and its customers, DG EAC’s IT Projects and Support unit builds and operates solutions for an effective and efficient implementation of its grant programmes.

The solution assignment may change over time, according to the portfolio/project/service needs.

**DESCRIPTION OF THE TASKS**

Following tasks will be performed by external service provider:

- Integration of user-facing elements developed by a front-end developer with server side logic.
- Implement core business logic.
- Creation of servers and databases for functionality.
- Design and implementation of data storage solutions.
- Understanding and implementation of security and data protection.
- Design and develop APIs.
- Participating in the design and creation of scalable software.
- Writing clean, functional code on the front
- and backend.
- Compile and analyse data, processes, and codes to troubleshoot problems and identify areas for improvement.
- Testing and fixing bugs or other coding issues.
- Meet both technical and consumer needs.
- Write technical documentation.

**SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE**
- Proficiency in JAVA.
- Familiarity with database technology such as Oracle and H2.
- Experience with the following tools: Git, JIRA, Confluence, Bamboo, Nexus, Gradle, Jenkins and Sonar.
- Good knowledge and experience of code versioning tools such as Git, Bitbucket
- Good knowledge and experience with CI/CD principles
- Good knowledge of agile development principles.
- Good knowledge of architecture best practices and patterns.
- Good knowledge of web-services and microservices.
- Very good communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Very good Analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Capability to write clear and structured technical documents.
- Ability to participate in technical meetings and good communication skills.

**SPECIFIC EXPERTISE AND TECHNOLOGIES**
- At least 8 years of specific expertise in Java (min. competence level 3).
- Definition of competence levels for this technical annex:_
