Independent Classical Guitar Teacher

We are looking for a classical guitar teacher who would be interested in working as an Independent Instrumental Teacher at the British School of Brussels (BSB), starting as soon as possible. The school has a very busy music department with excellent facilities, and we currently provide over 400 individual instrumental lessons each week. 23 instrumental teachers come into school to provide these lessons.

The British School provides free use of a practice room with a good quality piano as well as administrative support and rental instruments for our students. Lessons are timetabled throughout the school day in 30-minute sessions.

The BSB is an examination centre for The Associated Board of the Royal School of Music and Rock School. The school also provides many opportunities for students to perform in events and concerts. We expect support from all of our teachers in preparing for such events and wherever possible we like our teachers to perform alongside the students.

For the new guitar teacher there are currently 13 students, although new students may sign up at any point. There will be opportunities in September for all instrumental teachers to promote their instrument to prospective students and their parents. From this point forward new students will be able to sign up for lessons at any time during the year.
- Be well qualified in music, with experience in teaching classical guitar.
- Be able to teach from absolute beginners to a high level, ensuring that all students are also taught to read music and develop good sight reading and aural skills.
- Be aware of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and willing to teach their syllabus, entering students for examinations held at the British School.
- Play classical guitar to a high standard
- Be enthusiastic and inspiring as a teacher, and encourage all students to participate in our school ensembles, to sing in the choir and take every opportunity to perform
- NB Recent graduates as well as those with plenty of experience are all encouraged to apply
