**Skills, knowledge, experience required**:

- University degree in Computer Science or Information Engineering or related fields;
- Minimum 5 years of extensive and progressive expertise in the duties related to the function of the post;
- Minimum 3 years of experience teaching/mentoring a team;
- Current in-depth knowledge and practical work experience of MS Windows operating systems (latest versions) in a large scale LAN-based client-server environment using MS Active Directory Services;
- Current knowledge and recent practical experience of mainstream hypervisors;
- Minimum 5 years of practical experience as a system administrator of Virtual Infrastructure (VMware, Hyper-V);
- Server side scripting (MS PowerShell and Linux bash shell);
- Sound knowledge of the issues and techniques of information processing and web services;
- Experience with data management and storage facilities, including practical analytical experience of IT servers and system architecture implementations;
- Good awareness of access security and know how to implement security policies, with a good understanding and knowledge of systems usability;
- Recent experience with server clustering technology, storage systems and backup systems;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

**Desirable**:

- Master’s degree or higher;
- More than 5 years of experience as a team lead or team manager;
- Practical experience as a Systems or Virtual Infrastructure Administrator in an international environment;
- Practical experience in deploying/using/optimizing mainstream Service Management Tools (e.g. SCOM and Oracle Enterprise manager);
- Prior experience of working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements;
- Knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organization, including ACO and ACT;
- Sound experience in the installation, tuning and monitoring of clustered Operating Systems (like Solaris, MS Windows, etc.) and network shared file systems;
- Knowledge of the VMWare suite of enterprise products and support;
- More than 8 years of experience with virtualization infrastructures;
- VMWare certification;
- Minimal knowledge of storage systems such as NetApp and HP 3PAR;
- Microsoft Server certifications;
- Previous experience in NATO;
- More than 2 years of experience leading teams of more than 5 people.

**Duties/role**:

- Working on own initiative with limited supervision (may lead others as required);
- Planning, managing, coordinating and conducting work to meet quality targets;
- Maintaining and improving sound knowledge on implemented and new pertinent technologies;
- Analyzing technical issues, plans, designs, requirements and associated risks, and taking appropriate actions on technical solutions to include advise to supervisors and actual implementation;
- Taking initiative to investigate and resolves issues in a systematic approach;
- Analyzing and resolving assigned level 3 incident and problem tickets;
- Supporting IT Service Continuity Management (ITSCM), Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans;
- Maintaining liaison with other CSU internal units, Service Lines and other external technical organizations;
- Operating assigned IaaS systems and resolves alerts and error conditions;
- Documenting the configuration of assigned IaaS equipment and related operating procedures as well as execution of the latter;
- Implementing procedures, tools and techniques for monitoring and managing the performance of assigned IaaS systems and providing reports as required;
- Monitoring and reporting on the capacity of the assigned IaaS systems;
- Assisting with and implementing assigned project work packages;
- Assisting in developing new architectures as Subject Matter Expert in its assigned area of responsibility;
- Being responsible for teaching and growing the larger knowledge of the Service Area in general;
- Serving as Deputy SDM if required;
- Performing any other duty as assigned.
