eTheRNA immunotherapies was founded in 2013. eTheRNA has established an integrated set of proprietary capabilities for an end-to-end solution to design, develop and manufacture next-generation mRNA products based on enabling technologies. eTheRNA’s business model will utilize this suite of capabilities to provide superior products for partners in both early-stage research as well as later-stage development for mRNA therapeutics. eTheRNA will leverage its proprietary molecular designs, lipid biochemistry expertise, customized lipid nanoparticle formulations (cLNPs), mRNA-based T cell adjuvants, and advanced manufacturing processes to overcome the current challenges facing the development of mRNA therapeutics. **General job description**:
This position reports to the (Senior) Scientist Chemistry/VP Discovery and will be based in Ghent.

**Responsibilities and Duties**:
The Scientist Chemistry’s duties shall include, but not be limited to:
- Performing the synthesis of a broad range of challenging small to medium size molecules as part of a project team.
- Reporting the work and seeking feedback in a timely manner
- Optimization of chemical reactions and troubleshooting unsuccessful reactions. The scale of the synthesis may range from 100 milligrams to 100’s grams.
- Keep experimental records up to date and store data for each project in respective folders and ELN.
- To carry out laboratory work in a safe manner, comply with regulations and adhere to company policies.
- To support, train, and maintain laboratory types of equipment.**Job requirements**:
**Education**:
Ph.D. degree in organic or medicinal chemistry or a related area in which organic synthesis is the main component; or MSc. with relevant work experience (3-5 years).

**Experience**:
- Minimum of two years of relevant laboratory experience (can be both academic or industrial)
- Broad knowledge in organic chemistry such as nucleoside, phosphorous, lipids, peptides, etc
- Experience in organic synthesis techniques such as extraction, distillation, recrystallization, precipitation, and purification by chromatography (silica, reverse phase, ion-pairing, etc))
- Prior experience in the characterization of compounds 1D-NMR, 2D-NMR and by LC-MS is considered a plus

- Detail-oriented and accurate in following instructions, record keeping, and completion of reports in ELN
