As a Financial Controller you will report to the Head of Finance Belgium. You will be part of the Global Finance team**Role and responsibilities**

The key tasks are the following:

- Monitor the financial accounts of the Belgian office of Allen & Overy (P&L and balance sheet, monthly and yearly closing), liaise with the Accounting Assistant, highlight trends and analyse causes of unexpected variance, ensure compliance with accounting standards
- Provide targeted financial and business analysis to key stakeholders (legal practice groups, business teams)
- Assist the local Head of Finance in key accounting, tax and financial processes (preparation of annual financial statements, internal and external audit, corporate income tax return )
- Implement accounting and tax changes
- Support department heads and provide regular financial information (in-depth analysis of variances against the budget and prior period, KPI’s, accounting and tax rules )
- Provide financial information to and be a point of contact for external tax advisors (corporate and personal tax matters)
- Prepare mandatory external reporting (NBB, FOD Economy)
- Oversee and manage the preparation of the expenditure budget (OPEX and CAPEX) in collaboration with all business units and the global finance team, implement and monitor the progress
- Improve performance by evaluating processes to drive efficiencies
- Provide support to stakeholders on specific projects or processes (payment systems, business statistics, etc.)
- Ad-hoc reporting and analysis

**Who we are looking for**
- You obtained a Bachelor in Accounting or a Master in Business Management with a financial and/or accounting focus
- You have gained preferably experience and knowledge in Accounting and Financial management in an international environment
- An experience in audit or accountancy firm is an asset
- You have knowledge of tax regulations (VAT, corporate tax), either by education or by experience
- You have an excellent command of English and French or Dutch, both written and spoken
- You have a great sense of organization and planning, process driven and you are attentive to details
- You are self-motivated, a quick learner, ready to go for the extra mile, and able to perform tasks independently, while being able to work in a team and with colleagues located abroad
- You have strong written and oral communication skills.
- You follow up and are eager to learn the changes in regulations (accounting and tax) and in finance operations.
- You are able to work under tight deadlines
