Working for our Renewables & Urban Department

The Renewables & Urban Business Line of Laborelec provides business-focused research and expertise services to energy operators worldwide in the fields of solar, wind, hybrid and flexible assets, future home and collectivities, e-Mobility, lighting and energy storage.

Within the R&U business line, different types of projects are managed: desktop studies, system (pre)design and sizing, pilot project realization, solution development, measurement campaigns, inspections, implementation, monitoring, development of power & energy management systems (EMS), optimizing the operation of the energy system. These projects are typically performed in collaboration with research or industrial partners and operational entities of ENGIE.

These projects combine many of Laborelec’s expertises (energy storage, renewable energy technologies, electric mobility smart charging, power network studies & measurements, cyber security, IT solutions,) and are therefore executed in strong interaction with multiple teams within Laborelec. Many projects also involve collaborations with third parties.

Context of the job

In order to expand our current team, we are currently looking for a Project Manager Renewables & Urban,

As a Project Manager, you
- lead and participate in the execution of R&D projects and Operational projects in the field of renewables and urban
- manage first of a kind implementation projects on customers sites, or
- take the lead of the industrialisation phase of EMS related solutions, or
- lead digital project design and implementation, with the support of the Digital team
- are involved in the complete project cycle from design to implementation
- build a close relation with the clients, from the definition of their needs till the delivery of a solution bringing them clear added value
- effectively communicate project progress, results and references to clients and stakeholders.
- act as an integrator of different competence domains to contribute to the solution towards the clients.
- bring your own technical expertise to the projects
- coordinate transversally with experts from multiple competence centres within Laborelec
- establish collaborations with competent partners (internal and external ENGIE) to execute these projects.
- initiate new projects and provide valuable input for R&D roadmaps.

Qualifications

You may be our future colleague if you
- are experienced in managing multi-stakeholders projects
- are used to work in transversal project teams
- are at ease in a changing technical and business environment and are able to adapt yourself to the needs of the project and the client.
- are able to consider a technical problem in its broader context, with a keen awareness of economic and financial impacts.
- have strong communication skills and are not afraid to talk to and engage an audience
- are imbued with team spirit and initiative. You have the ability to develop synergies both internally with other competence centres and with external partners (for example, manufacturers, universities and other research centres)
- have a natural business feeling (value creation,)
- have a Master’s degree in electrotechnical or electromechanical engineering with strong affinity towards renewable energy systems, as well as a good digital background.
- have experience with electrical or thermal storage.
- are fluent in at least two of the three following languages : Dutch, French and English, and you are engaged to reach quickly a fluent level in the third one (other languages are a plus)
- are available and in a position to travel for short missions within Belgium, Europe and outside Europe
