As an Operations Manager, you will work closely with the center director in overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring the smooth functioning of various research groups and support services. Your key responsibilities will involve operational efficiency by establishing effective processes, managing resources, and facilitating both internal and external communication.

**Responsibilities**:

- You play a crucial role in supporting the center director by assisting with policy-related matters, implementation, processing, and follow-up of decisions.
- Preparation of faculty meetings, meetings reports, annual reporting to VIB, organization of the scientific advisory board visit, and others.
- Manage budgets, allocate resources effectively, and provide regular reports on operational performance to the center director.
- Provide support in the recruitment process and facilitate the smooth onboarding of newly hired center staff.
- Coordinate in collaboration with the center administrative team the day-to-day operations. Set up and coordinate the center’s expertise units including a wet lab and technology unit. Facilitate the operational integration of the Data Core with the center.
- You are the point of contact for other VIB centers and KU Leuven and help organising initiatives to foster an interactive community of AI researchers in VIB and beyond.
- Responsible for internal and external communication of the center. This includes managing communication channels such as the website, social media platforms, interactions with funding agencies, industry partners, charity organizations, and more.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and teamwork across the center.

**Profile**:
**Qualifications**:

- Master's or Ph.D. degree in Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field with a strong understanding of research operations.
- Relevant work experience in a similar role within a research institute or industry. Good understanding of research methodologies, laboratory and computational procedures, and project management within a scientific setting.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements, ethical considerations, and data management practices in research.
- Familiarity with data analysis and/or machine learning, deep learning, and other AI techniques commonly used in biology research is considered an asset.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving operational challenges.
- Outstanding abilities in communication and interpersonal relations, enabling effective collaboration with researchers, administrators, and external partners.
- Fluency in English (verbally and in writing) is mandatory.
