IBA is currently looking for a
**system architect** for the Beam Production system function for heavy ions system.
The beam production system function deals with a superconducting accelerator for carbon, protons and other particles developed at IBA for Hadrontherapy system. It encompasses many different techniques and technologies to produce the particle beam used to treat patients.
As Beam production - System Architect, you are part of the system architecture team within IBA Innovation & Development department, a team whose expertise covers IBA system-specific knowledge.
Your role is to lead the development and technical follow-up of IBA particle accelerator, with a focus on the
**C400 cyclotron**.
You are the main contact point and the technical lead for developments, changes and issues impacting the heavy ions Beam production. This role encompasses Research and development projects, support to manufacturing and operations as well as coaching and training support.
In order to fulfill this role, you will gain deep knowledge of the C400, its various subsystems and interfaces with the Hadrontherapy system.
Your daily work includes a diversified range of tasks from challenging and reviewing user needs to maintaining part of the C400-related architecture model and documentation. In the medical device context, you will for instance analyze impacts and assess risks related to the C400 (risks for patients and operators, technological risks for projects or EHS and environmental aspects of the production).
You are a key player in the identification of technical solutions and rework options in case of non-conformities, among others.
This implies a multidisciplinary approach, good communication skills and collaboration with many other teams (e.g. physicists, mechanical and electrical designers, production engineers, operators).
Hard skills
- Master degree in engineering, with a broad technical background;
- Knowledge and experience on particle accelerator-related equipment and associated technologies (ion sources, vacuum, magnetism, superconductivity, power supplies );
- Knowledge and experience on System Engineering and Model Based Architecture tool (SysML/ UML with Enterprise Architect) is a major asset
- Experience in requirements management tool (e.g. Siemens Polarion) and FMECA/FTA is a plus
Soft skills
- You are able to organize your work autonomously and take initiatives;
- You are a team player having the passion to listen, understand, communicate and convince others;
- You are curious and willing to keep on learning and improving;
- You have excellent communication skills in English. French is an important asset;
- You are willing to travel (up to 20%, mainly in Caen, France)
