Clinical Embryologist

The Centre for Reproductive Medicine (CRG) of Brussels University Hospital is one of the pioneers in the development of new treatments for infertile couples. It constantly strives to improve existing techniques and introduce new ones.

The Medically Assisted Reproduction (Medisch Begeleide Voortplanting, MBV) laboratory is a specialised laboratory with ISO 15189 accreditation, where human gametes, fertilisation and embryo development are carried out with pregnancy in mind.

To expand the team of the laboratory we are looking for a full time clinical embryologist.

**Function**:

- This position has a clinical interpretation in line with the strategy of the University Hospital Brussels and in line with the policy outlined by the management team of the CRG.
- The clinical duties involve the performance of embryological techniques with a view to pregnancy, based on the latest medical and embryological insights, which requires ongoing training. You thus actively contribute to the further professionalization of the MBV laboratory.
- Practical clinical laboratory tasks may include
- Analysis, processing and assembly of human gametes
- Evaluation of embryo development, embryo selection and embryo transfer
- Micromanipulation
- Vitrification of gametes and embryos
- Logistics - administrative support MBV laboratory
- Collaboration on the quality management system MBV laboratory
- Critical analysis, interpretation of treatment results and reporting
- Validation of embryology data
- You participate in clinical embryology studies
- You work closely with colleagues in embryology and with the team of laboratory assistants as well as with the nursing and medical teams of the CRG
- You functionally supervise the lab technicians of the embryology lab
- You will respect at all times the professional secrecy applicable in a hospital
- Reporting to the head of the MBV laboratory
- Possibility of obtaining a PhD

**Profile**:

- You have a university degree with scientific background, e.g. Master in Biomedical, Medical, Veterinary, Biological or Bio-engineering sciences or equivalent
- Experience in a similar position is a plus but not an absolute requirement; full training is provided
- You can work in a precise and orderly manner
- You bear responsibility for the tasks assigned
- You work with the necessary practical insight and alertness to identify any deviations in time and take the appropriate corrective measures
- You are willing to learn about the current legal and ethical regulations
- You have the necessary interest in the scientific element of the job as it concerns a university environment
