**What you will be doing?**
We are looking for an entrepreneurial general manager whose job it will be to lead the Business Unit BRS through its growth and maturity phases while achieving the Umicore Group’s and the Business Unit’s KPIs. This entails the leadership, activation & continuous adaptation of the end-to-end design, build & implementation of the full business value chain.
Main areas of responsibility:
- Define, present and implement strong business cases, strategies and operational plans for the BU; ensure alignment with the Umicore Group strategy and its short-term and long-term objectives
- Implement the operational plan with the BU Management Team and ensure relevant KPIs are put in place to measure achievements of goals, correct proactively preferably and reactively if needed
- Lead all operations, research & technology and business & commercial activities to ensure they perform in accordance with the overall business operating plan
- Establish and develop a high performing leadership team; ensure succession of key players; work closely with HR to recruit, promote, detect and develop talents in the organization
- Engage & coach employees to realize the unit’s objectives and bring change where needed
- Establish technology leadership and build an IP-portfolio; review and decide on technology choices and process development to secure long-term business
- Pursue operational excellence across the BU; ensure efficiencies & best practice industrialization
- Ensure ESG, Health & Safety Leadership at all levels of the BU
- Assess, prepare and decide/obtain approval on investments
- Build effective relations with customers, key external and internal partners and stakeholders
- Maintain a deep knowledge of the markets and industry; detect, evaluate and prepare new business opportunities (organically / acquisition / JV / partnerships)
- Optimize and build in tools and structures like IS-systems, metal management, pricing models, operational tools for stock management, production planning and the like
- Spokesperson for BRS on different national and international events, often with high level and senior representation of stakeholders like politicians, government officials, investors, NGO’s
- Have an academic background with PhD/Master in Engineering or Science (Chemistry, Metallurgy, Physics, Material Science) or Business Engineering (with experience in technological field) or equivalent through experience
- Have a successful track record in developing profitable business in a technology driven industrial environment with a global footprint. If you have understanding of the recycling business and/or operations, that is considered a plus.
- Possess operational experience and/or plant management is a plus
- Have gained project management experience
- Have an entrepreneurial mindset with strong business and financial acumen; capable to take balanced business risks and hungry for new challenges
- Are strong in dealing with and leading through ambiguity
- Are visionary, purpose driven
- Have analytical & conceptual capabilities and problem-solving skills accompanied by strong organizational and leadership skills
- Possess excellent communication, relational and inspirational skills
- Work result-oriented and are performance driven with a strong passion band drive to win
