Scotland House Brussels is offering two recent graduates the opportunity to gain professional experience in Brussels, completing an 11-month internship. Interns will provide support to the Scottish Government and Scotland Europa across a range of policy, events and administrative tasks.

**About Scotland House Brussels**

Scotland House Brussels is the centre of Scotland’s engagement with EU and wider European and international partners in Brussels. It brings together the Scottish Government, Scotland Europa, and Scottish Enterprise. We are an integrated operation, drawing on expertise and experience from across Scotland and providing services to support Scotland’s economic and diplomatic interests at EU level, underpinned by a rich programme of cultural promotion, and policy events. **Main Duties and Responsibilities**

The intern posts will involve contact with Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise and Scotland Europa members in Scotland, as well as the EU institutions and the UK Mission to the EU (UKMis Brussels), the representations of other EU Member States and regions as well as key European networks Scotland House partners are engaged in.
- Support policy colleagues on a range of tasks including horizon scanning of upcoming EU policy and producing policy alerts, reports, briefings, publications and weekly newsletters for Scottish Government officials as well as Scotland Europa member organisations
- Support Policy officers on engagement with the EU Institutions and Brussels-based networks and partners
- Attend external meetings (online and in person) to provide reports and updates to colleagues
- Support the team (including the Senior Management Team) on a range of corporate and administrative tasks including managing the reception desk, helping with office administration and other tasks such as diary and travel management
- Assist policy officers and the visits team in organising Ministerial and senior stakeholder visits to Brussels
- Assist with the organisation of policy and cultural meetings and events, online and in the Scotland House Conference Centre
- Support policy teams across the key SHB policy areas
- Support the communications team in managing the content of the Scotland House websites and social media accounts

**Essential qualifications, skills and experience**
- University degree
- Relevant academic/work/voluntary experience
- Fluent level of English
- A keen interest in EU/European policy and an understanding of the EU institutions and processes
- A good knowledge of Scottish affairs and interest in promoting Scotland’s reputation internationally
- A desire to work for Scotland in an EU/international context
- Strong communication, interpersonal and team working skills
- Good research, writing and strong IT skills including use of Microsoft Office and social media

**Desirable qualifications, skills and experience**
- Good level of French is desirable

**Terms and conditions of employment**
- This is a full-time professional immersion traineeship with a duration of 11 months, 38h/5 working days a week with a salary of 1300 EUR gross, meal vouchers, and reimbursement of public transport costs, starting at the beginning of September 2023
- The post is based in Scotland House Brussels and will sometimes require attendance at evening events and out of hours working
