**Accountabilities and key relationships**

The Communications and Events Officer reports to the EPD Communications Manager. In the daily work of the Communications Officer they will work very closely with other communications and events colleagues, with the EPD research team and Carnegie Europe colleagues working on the European Democracy Hub.

This position is specifically responsible for communications and events organised under the European Democracy Hub (EDH) - a joint initiative of EPD and Carnegie Europe.

**Duties and responsibilities**

Strategic communication
- Developing and implementing a new EDH communications strategy along with other relevant EPD staff;
- Monitoring communications statistics and analysing EDH communications;
- Maintaining an up-to-date contact database in cooperation with other communications colleagues;
- Support the compilation of relevant newsletters;
- Developing and implementing strategic communications campaigns about specific topics if required.

Online communications
- Managing the daily communications work of EDH online (website and social media);
- Regular website management (drafting and posting articles, updating pages, liaising with providers);
- Regular social media posting;
- Monitoring relevant research on European democracy support.

Production
- Managing contacts with external service providers supporting EDH’s communication tasks (e.g. developing infographics, basic typesetting and graphic design of reports);
- Supporting the design and production of EDH papers for external publication;
- Developing graphics and GIFs for social media;
- Performing simple video editing if required.

Events
- Lead contact point for events such as conferences, dinners, workshops and other forms of stakeholder dialogues organised under the EDH (approx 10 per year);
- Responsibility for logistics of events (bookings, liaising with service providers);
- Supporting other EDH staff with invitations, save-the-dates and contact list management;
- Facilitate events (note-taking, facilitation of breakout sessions etc.).

Miscellaneous
- Assisting in the daily functioning of EPD, including administrative and logístical tasks;
- Supporting the conduct of online and physical events with EPD members, partners in civil society and in the EU institutions (e.g. live tweeting);
- Providing other kinds of assistance as requested.

**Requirements**:

- Early-career professional with 1-3 years prior experience in communications and/or event organisation;
- High proficiency in English (fluent or native speaker);
- Good team player and ability to work in a small yet diverse work environment, with colleagues and partners from around the world;
- Experience and interest in working for an NGO / non-profit sector is an asset;
