**JOB PROFILE**
In the context of various projects with other universities and IMEC, the DIGCOM research group investigates millimeter wave (mmWave) communication for future wireless networks. This research focuses on the analysis and design of signals and signal processing algorithms. At these frequencies there is a wide spectral range, which in theory allows very high bit rates to be achieved. To achieve these bit rates, a number of technical challenges must be overcome. The strong attenuation at these frequencies makes the use of multi-antenna transmitters/receivers (MIMO) necessary. Due to the high frequencies, even limited mobility leads to large Doppler shifts, making the channel highly time-selective. In addition, the large system bandwidth results in all kinds of distortions and non-idealities of the hardware, which must be taken into account when designing the signals and algorithms.
**YOUR TASKS**
Within the research into communication for future wireless networks, we are looking for a postdoctoral researcher who has the necessary competencies to contribute to this research. This postdoctoral researcher will:
- Conduct innovative research in the field of signal processing algorithms for mmWave communications
- Publish results in international journals and at international conferences
- Collaborate with colleagues within the research group and with researchers from other research groups
- Contribute to the educational tasks of the research group within the Bachelor and Master programs
**WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR**
- You hold a thesis-based doctorate in the domain signal processing for digital communication
- You have experience with signals and signal processing algorithms
- You have excellent analytical skills and a critical sense to interpret the research results
- You have good communication skills and can plan and carry out tasks independently
- You speak and write fluently in English
**WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU**
- We offer you a contract of definite duration for the period from one year.
- Your contract will start on January 1, 2024 at the earliest.
