**1. Purpose**
Responsible for ledger maintenance and other financial operations leading to:
- Timely, accurate and complete month end closing of actuals and supporting documentation
- Operating effective financial processes and executing internal controls
- Maintaining day to day accounting records, including P&L and B/S substantiation, participation in change and improvement projects and treasury coordination where needed.
Support in a proactive, professional and high quality finance service to the Finance Operations department in Europe that offers maximum service levels and minimises costs where possible.
**2. Dimensions**
The role will have a responsibility in the following areas:
- Up to date and accurate record keeping, (intersystem) reconciliations and management of the general ledger through effective and efficient processes
- Maintain financial controls
- Expense reporting
- Tax filing preparation and liaison with tax specialists (CIT, VAT, IPT, Wage tax)
- Investment accounting
- Coordination of cash management where needed
- Preparation of audit files
- Pro-actively recommending improvements to processes and procedures and involvement in implementation
**3. Key Result Areas **.
**Service. **To understand the accounting operations needs of the location/country and to provide the full range of accounting operations required within agreed service levels and timeframes.
**Accounting**:Responsible for the maintenance of complete and accurate accounting records including month-end reconciliations and substantiation files. **Collaboration**:Collaborate with Tax, Reporting and Control, Reinsurance operations, Credit control, FP&A, Actuary and Treasury. Build strong relationships which enable collaboration to increase operational efficiency across teams. **Variance analysis. **Performing analytical review and explanation of movements in P&L and balances in B/S accounts.
**Financial control framework. **Supporting the operation of the financial control framework (processes and controls) including adherence to Group policies. **Quality assurance. **Production of outputs to an agreed quality standard ensuring that the recipients can rely on the quality and have assurance over accuracy. To self-review work or to peer review where appropriate.
**Technical Knowledge. **Keep up to date with technical accounting and regulatory developments where relevant.
**Risk **management **. Understand and support the MS Amlin Finance risk management framework consistent with the Group’s risk management processes.
**4. The Operating Environment and Context of the Job**
This role places an emphasis on quality accounting performance in a broad sense. The role forms part of the cross country MS Amlin Insurance S.E. Finance Operations team consisting of accounting (including accounts payable), reporting and control and credit control. Customers across Finance and Business areas will rely on high quality, controlled and timely information.
Key business decisions will be based on information produced and, as such, it is imperative that processes are controlled and outputs are challenged and verified.
Close relationships will need to be maintained with all areas in Finance and Business involved in the creation, supply or receipt of financial services.

Must be willing to work extended hours when appropriate.
**Job Specific**
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in economics or accounting (post qualification experience will determine junior/medior/senior level).
Understanding of EUCs and related control framework.
Technical accounting knowledge (IFRS, domestic GAAP etc).
Understanding of financial accounting systems.
Solid knowledge of (financial) accounting processes, systems and controls and excellent Excel skills.
