Principal Architect Datacentre Infrastructure Responsibilities: The principal architect has the final responsibility over the architecture of all systems, platforms, technology stacks and/or business capabilities within their assigned scope. Working closely with other architects and technical experts both within and outside their scope, they formulate a future state and the roadmap towards that future state and create the necessary buy-in and momentum to deliver on this roadmap. They ensure that external stakeholder discussions both with vendors and customers are compatible with the long term architecture roadmap. The scope of the Principal Architect Datacentre Infrastructure encompasses Storage, Compute, Hypervisors, Load-balancing, Firewalling, switching, infrastructure automation and OS layer.
Your roles and responsibilities
- Developing a future-state or target architecture for their domain and creating the associated roadmap by analysing and closing gaps between current and future state technology architecture, in line with strategy.
- Rationalizing the technology portfolio to reduce redundancies and obsolescence in their domain
- Setting delivery standards and architecture principles that are informed by enterprise strategy, while regularly reviewing changes in business needs to determine when they should be revised. Surfacing potential security risks of architecture standards and deliverables.
- Proactively coming up with deliverables and processes for new solutions, enhancements or alternatives to how work gets done, by analysing gaps in the architecture, processes and operations.
- Collaborating with other technical domains to achieve target state architecture and identifying realistic and simple solutions to business challenges.
- Accounting for the interdependencies across projects, products or business domains. Developing strategy and guidance to enable integration of systems in their technical domain within and across the business ecosystem.
- Supporting and participating in agile and iterative solution development.
Reducing friction between the different value streams to empower each to maximize the deliveries in their area.
- Understanding stakeholder motivations, metrics and incentives to build trust. Convincing stakeholders to take specific courses of action. Facilitating productive discussions among groups of stakeholders.
Communicating and clarifying expectations for stakeholders' contributions to projects. Your skills: You have a proven experience in defining the end-to-end architecture of an on-premise datacentre infrastructure:
- Storage + Compute, L2 Switching, Firewalling, load-balancing, virtualization
- Multi-site/multi-pod deployments
- Strong analytical and communicative skills to inspire technical experts on the various components Will be an advantage:
- Experience with Cisco ACI, F5, Checkpoint, VMware, storage and storage area networks
- Experience with Telecom infrastructure or other Real Time critical environments
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code concepts and gitops paradigm
- Experience with enterprise VMware products
