**PROFILE**
**Knowledge/Experience**
- You have conducted scientific research, as evidenced by publications and/or socially relevant output, in a field relevant to the management of the (natural) historical collections of GUM-Botanical Garden;
- You have demonstrable experience with collections (e.g., knowledge of conservation and restoration practices, registration practices, familiarity with current topics in museology);
- You have demonstrable experience in leading and developing a museum;
- You have demonstrable experience in public engagement and educational activities in museums;
- You have an extensive network of contacts in the heritage sector;
- You are able to coordinate and integrate the scientific and educational program of a museum into the overall museum operation;
- You are able to initiate and guide scientific research in the field of museum operations, especially contemporary public engagement and youth activities, and raise the necessary funds for this purpose;
- You have didactic skills aimed at developing and realizing academic competencies in university students;
- You have demonstrable experience as a curator in translating scientific research into museum operation and accessibility to its target audiences;
- You have knowledge of Flemish cultural heritage policy;
- You must have proficiency in the language of instruction in which you will teach at the ERK level C1. You can demonstrate this through a language certificate or a diploma obtained from an institution where that language is the language of instruction. Furthermore, Article II.270, -1 of the Higher Education Code requires that: (i) you must have a minimum proficiency level of ERK level A2 in Dutch within 2 years of appointment, and (ii) at the time of appointment or at the latest within 5 years of appointment, you must be able to demonstrate the required proficiency level at ERK level B2. **Admission requirements**
- You hold a thesis-based doctorate or a diploma or certificate that is recognised as equivalent (article V.20 Codex Higher Education).
Upon evaluation of a foreign (non-EU) diploma, a certificate of equivalence may still have to be requested at NARIC. If this is the case, we advise you to initiate this recognition procedure as soon as possible. You are required to have the recognition no later than on the date of your appointment.
- You have at least two years of postdoctoral experience on February 1, 2024. This term of two years is determined by the date written on the above-mentioned required diploma.
**APPOINTMENT INFORMATION**
Assistant professor or associate professor:
- We offer you an appointment with renewable duration for a maximum of 6 years.
Pay attention: A part-time assignment of a certain degree of the professorial staff cannot be combined with a part-time assignment of a different degree of the professorial staff within the same institution.
